If problems are Java related it is worth checking you have the latest version as updates occur quite frequently. For Windows, go to Control Panel, open Java, go to the Update tab. The latest version of Internet Explorer may help too.

All good shots, particularly 1 and 3 for me.

On a tripod I use the 'mirror up then 2 second delay' option in the drive settings. Plus no shake reduction as suggested. Your problem does sound a bit odd though.

Opening the link on PU emails regarding comment notification takes ages, or at least the reset process does, particularly on Android devices. So much so that I now usually remove notification after posting. Surely the coding and process can be refined.

Those pictures are fine, I think it becomes more apparent on images that are under exposed even when using 800 and 1600. Big enlargements will have a grainy quality regardless but noise is less apparent on a bright correctly exposed image.

Most of my subjects are static so I shoot below 400 and or use a tripod.

After seeing pictures on the K10 thread on the US forum I decided to get one even though I could have gone for a later model. It's not too hard to find one online in excellent condition (mine was) and now they are going for around £100. A bargain really if high ISO is not important.

So, now, between the A and the M....
A is more convenient, M doesn't support any program modes, just manual and aperture priority.

You are right about activating a swich on an original M42 mount body. An MX will have a K mount which only takes M42's using an adaptor and there is no mechanical linkage between the camera and lens so the lens must be stopped down manually to get accurate metering before shooting. The same applies to any variation of K mount camera with an M42 attached.

I like 'two' but would crop off the background on righthand edge as it is steals attention from the model. Also 'one' would look better with the 'stepped' bricks on right cropped off (they look too modern with her outfit).

A good set of shots and just my opinion on improvments of course!

35mm on film was a popular lens, old point and shoots always had a 35mm until 28mm crept in.
