Pwynnej - Thanks very much.
Matt - It's not the write protect tab but I think that may be the problem inside the camera - I think that's where it got stuck when I put the card in first time. It's such a pain and I guess a really trivial repair but there is no getting past the standard 150 quid repair charge from pentax. I did note that Nikon are offering a 2 year warranty.
The cards which caused the problem are the standard speed 8GB Sandisk ones and they work fine. My existing ones are sandisk 2gb extreme 3's which no longer work.
Peter is absolutely correct,If I were you, I would take the camera and all the SD cards that you use with it, to Pentax, and get them to investigate and repair under warranty!

The SD cards are all the same standard, and the SDHC cards are all manufactured to a higher spec but are all manufactured to the SDHC standard.
Some SDHC cards now have a faster read write spec, but the point I'm trying to get across is that physically they are all the same size mate!
It's like a CD, the physical dimensions are the same, and therefore they fit in any player.

Pete,
That's a good point which crossed my mind but they were from 7dayshop rather than ebay so I cannot believe they would be fake.
The 150 quid repair just doesn't make it worthwhile having it done when it's only worth 250 quid second hand anyway. I think I'll probably replace it and keep the K10d as a spare as it still works.
Rob.
Have you phoned the 7 dayshop to complain?
Have you contacted Sandisk?
I know it's not of much comfort to you now, but an SD card should slide in easily, with only slight pressure needed to retain or release it.
I don't think you should have to pay to get your camera fixed, and I feel that it warrants further investigation, either by Pentax, or by Sandisk!
Best of luck,
Peter.

When my Pentax camera arrives, the cash-back form which I have gives a choice of how you want the cash, I ticked a cheque.
No mention of a voucher, cash-back means cash not a voucher surely.
I said that the voucher arrived through the post, it's not part of the casback offers, but it can be redeemed when purchasing from the Pentax Pro Dealer who supplied camera and lens!
Please contact Andrew Mellor at Pentax, who can advise you about the voucher, and cashbacks.
I've explained how I used the voucher and cashback offers to obtain my SMC DA 55-300mm lens for £55.
Regards,
Peter.

It's to be reedemed against various purchases at the "Pro dealer" that you purchased your camera and lens from.
It's values depend on what you purchase, obviously the more expensive the item the voucher values rise pro rata.
The K20D is not sold in kit form, the camera body is in a box and the lens is in a box, they are not combined together as a kit!
You need to purchase a camera and a lens to qualify for the £100 cashback!
For further details phone Pentax and ask for Andrew Mellor!

Some rechargeable CR-3V batteries can provide more than 3 volts - which Pentax may believe could damage the camera. So that's one possible reason, Roscoe.
Nowdays you can find Energizer Lithium AA batteries cheap in the UK. Stock up on a load of them to take on holidays, and to carry as spares. They are excellent batteries and have a shelf life of 14 years.
For more regular and economical running, you could use high-capacity rechargeable NiMH AA cells. It doesn't matter that they are rated 1.2V. In fact they work well in anything that works with 1.5V alkaline cells. There are hybrid versions (Eneloop etc) if the self-discharge rate of ordinary NiMH bothers you.
While I agree it's a shame to limit the choice of batteries that any device can take, it's no big problem in this case when there are two excellent solutions.
The smaller and more up-to-date Optios can't even take AA cells, only a special rechargeable lithium ion battery.
The CRV3 is a Duracell Ultra 3V Lithium battery, it's not a rechargeable, and is the battery recommended for use by Pentax, in the owners manual, so unless there is some "vast" difference between an E10 and an S50, I can not understand your point.

So I'll try and explain.
I purchased a K20D and an SMC DA 18-55mm II lens, From a "Pentax Pro" dealer (Park Cameras).
I then claimed the £100 cash back from Pentax.
Pentax then sent me a voucher to use at Park Cameras.
I then purchased the SMC DA 55-300mm lens for £195 and used the Pentax voucher to claim £15 off the price of the lens, and spent the £100 cash back.
So far the lens has now cost me £80, then I claimed the £25 lens cashback, and the price of the lens has now fallen to £55.
This can all be verified by Andrew Mellor at Pentax who is running the cashback offers.

Just went to the Pentax site and I saw this link
I've never seen that one before, is it a new product?
Has someone actually have one and can tell me how it is?
I've been looking for a hand strap for awhile but never found a good one so any recommendation is of course welcome

I am currently using Sandisk Extreme-III SDHC cards in my K20D.
Sandisk has now introduced a 30MB/s edition of the SDHC cards, will the K20D benefit from this or is the 20MB/s write speed of the normal extreme-III more then enough for the K20D?
See the 7 Day shop, for amazing prices!

Sorry Roscoe, I did not read the first post properly.
Thank you for explaining.
Maybe I will cancel my order with Jessops as I don't want a voucher to be spent there, if I were to get one.
Edit. decided to cancel Jessops order and go to a proper Pentax dealer. Goodbye cheap 55-200 lens.
