Cashback and voucher !

It seems that a lot of people are unaware of the cashback offers and the Pentax voucher.

So I'll try and explain.

I purchased a K20D and an SMC DA 18-55mm II lens, From a "Pentax Pro" dealer (Park Cameras).
I then claimed the £100 cash back from Pentax.
Pentax then sent me a voucher to use at Park Cameras.
I then purchased the SMC DA 55-300mm lens for £195 and used the Pentax voucher to claim £15 off the price of the lens, and spent the £100 cash back.
So far the lens has now cost me £80, then I claimed the £25 lens cashback, and the price of the lens has now fallen to £55.

This can all be verified by Andrew Mellor at Pentax who is running the cashback offers.

Hi Roscoe, why the extra £15 'voucher' ? - which item is it redeemed against, or is it just a "we'll be nice to park cameras" thing by pentax ?

reading the pentax cashback form you get £100 cashback on the K20 if bought in a kit, with any lens, but not body only

you can get cashback of £25 on the 55-300 without buying a camera body

The voucher is sent out by Pentax through the post, it's not from the UK, I believe from Belgium or the Netherlands.

It's to be reedemed against various purchases at the "Pro dealer" that you purchased your camera and lens from.

It's values depend on what you purchase, obviously the more expensive the item the voucher values rise pro rata.
The K20D is not sold in kit form, the camera body is in a box and the lens is in a box, they are not combined together as a kit!
You need to purchase a camera and a lens to qualify for the £100 cashback!

The voucher may be from Germany, which is where Pentax Europe are based. Pentax Netherlands/Belgium is run by the importer, de Beukelaer, and they never give anything away, believe me. No cashbacks here, no vouchers, nothing .
I can't even claim the cashback on my new lens from SRS because I don't have a UK bank account. It is all very unfair especially as Pentax prices in the UK have been a lot lower than in Europe for sometime now, even before the collapse of the pound. So no comments about rip off Britain please.

When my Pentax camera arrives, the cash-back form which I have gives a choice of how you want the cash, I ticked a cheque.
No mention of a voucher, cash-back means cash not a voucher surely.

If I understood Roscoe correctly, he got a £100 cash back AND a fifteen quid voucher. Not sure why he got the voucher as well, perhaps due to using that store.

Gwyn... surely some helpful PUG person could claim your cashback and then send you the cash, if you find someone you trust?

I said that the voucher arrived through the post, it's not part of the casback offers, but it can be redeemed when purchasing from the Pentax Pro Dealer who supplied camera and lens!

Please contact Andrew Mellor at Pentax,who can advise you about the voucher,and cashbacks.
I've explained how I used the voucher and cashback offers to obtain my SMC DA 55-300mm lens for £55.

Maybe I will cancel my order with Jessops as I don't want a voucher to be spent there, if I were to get one.

Edit. decided to cancel Jessops order and go to a proper Pentax dealer. Goodbye cheap 55-200 lens.

I would never use Jessops, I've found them none too helpful and they are reluctant to price match, even when one of their shops is selling the same lens at a lower price!

I'm a bit puzzled by the 'not sold in kit form' comment though, since the cashback form says "K20D Camera and Lens Kit £100", but maybe we're just being picky on terminology !

Yes I agree that it's confusing, especially as Pentax used to market a camera and a lens as a kit all contained in one carton.

A quick call to Park Cameras, will confirm what I've posted, like you I found it all rather confusing,and only found out upon purchase of my K20D!

I received a voucher in the form of a post card for registering my K20D on line. I take it that it is the same as what Roscoe is talking about.

You get £7 off when you spend between £70 to £149
£15 off when you spend between £150 to £349,
£35 off when you spend over £350
And you have to use it at the same pro centre that you purchacsd your camera from.

Absolutely correct Steve, as I said in my post, I used it to good effect when I purchased my SMC DA 55-300mm lens
