What are the newer Range Rovers like for rot in the tailgate, which was was a common problem in the older models?
I'm looking at buying a Santana. Land Rover, but Spanish built. Chances are I'll end up with an old Suzuki though.
I just want something to explore the dirt tracks around my home and have some certainty of getting home.

4X4's for me. Land Rover Defender 110 specifically. i had a Series III, Defender 110 CSW, then a P38 Range Rover. The defender was the best.
My lad has a '93 Ford Sierra Sapphire for sale . . .
. . . Oh, forgot to mention . . . It's an RS Cosworth (a proper one, not a replica).
Always wanted a County 110, never got round to getting one, run a Fiesta Zetec 1.4 1999 1/2 model. and an 08 Fiesta Zetec Climate 1.6 TDCI, which although not 4x4, is a nice car, lots of poke, and only costs £35 per year road tax.

Hi all,
Thought i would say hello. Been lurking about for a few months as a non member while i weighed up my camera purchase. Pentax won, so i thought it would be a good idea to join up now.
Been a DSLR owner since 2003. First with a 300D, then briefly (2 weeks) with Minolta 5D and then a Nikon D50. All bottom end cameras. As an astrophotographer i never bought into any lens system, just the body and kit lens. Hence why i've been free to move between brands.
Decided to leave the astro stuff alone for a while now and instead concentrate on learning some daytime photography skills. Want to specialise mainly on cars/aircraft. Plus some macro/nature in the backgarden.
Original plan was either Pentax K-m or the Sony A200. I can't afford fancy IS or VR lenses, so ruled out another Canon or Nikon. The nice chap in London Camera Exchange tipped me off about the K10D and what a great deal it was. And how right he was! Feel like i have a camera that is a proper step up from the 300D/D50, where as (no offence to any K-m owners) the K-m in my mind seemed a side step from the D50. Can't afford any fancy lenses, so just have the kit lens and Tamron 70-300. Will add the Pentax 50mm f1.4 prime asap.
Sorry for the long blown out intro.
Regards
Russ

It's a pity this turned into a Jessops-bashing thread as the OP has stated it was not that company.
I have heard dealers express views that getting hold of Pentax stuff is difficult and Pentax servicing is problematic now. Both of these have been given as reasons for no longer stocking the brand.
Does this perhaps highlight an issue effecting small volume dealers as opposed to big boys like Chris?
(And for the record I'm no Jessops fan.)

The sooner Jessops, disappear the better.
Once upon a time Jessops were good, you could buy anything and from knowledgeable people, now it gets up my nose, they tell customers “This is the best one for you” without any idea of what the person wants, and this is the way many high street stores are going and it B***Y annoys me.
The bosses make a quick profit, customers are ripped off, but more wiser and then wont use Jessops.
Hence the huge losses they have made for the last 2 years.
I say just use good shops like SRS and Pentax will be around for a very long time.

Strange that on a Google search Dixons once the UK's main camera shop never comes up? They seem to be about the cheapest for the K20D at the moment £567.63 inc. delivery.... SRS are £619 = £51.37 dearer and Dixons claim to have stock. Check if it's the mkII kit lens if anyone buys one.
The links too messy (contains session details etc. the web designer should be sacked, maybe that's why Google don't bother) so here's the site. Look under Photo and Camcorders.
In the past I've bought a ME Super, MX and MEF from Dixons. The prices were all good at the time.

I have always believed that if you're going to buy a camera, then you buy from a specialist shop, and not from a "general store", as a rule once Dixons have sold an item, should you have a problem with it,then they don't want to know.
My friend purchased a Chinnon SLR from Dixons some years ago, and after 4 faulty replacement cameras, he demanded and got his money back, eventually, but only after a lot of fuss from Dixons!

Although a Pentax user for some 40+ years - I started with a Pentax S1a -I have yet to purchase a Pentax DSLR - perhaps in the Spring when a new model appears? However, I have been warned off by a salesman at a well known local camera shop.
The shop doesn't stock Pentax DSLR's because they can't obtain stock; kits, bodies or lenses, and as Pentax have apparenty withdrawn from servicing and repairs the shop doesn't accept Pentax units for repair!
They also think Pentax will go the way of Minolta!
Can anyone through any light on the matter? I have so much Pentax kit I can't bear the thought of changing brands.

hi all... i would like to ask a few question regarding the 540 flash...
firstly i had a group shot with few other brands last month but mine are mostly underexposed. i am pretty sure that my flash fired according to the pentax software... standing distance are the same about 2~3 metres...
secondly i notice that the maximum shutter speed is fixed at 1/180 while other brands can go till 1/4000...
lastly when i use prime lens my flash cannot fire no matter what mode i use on the camera as well as the flash...
any ideas what the main cause beside user problem? real appreciate all the help i can get here... tks
I'm interested in this, because I haven't got a new flash yet.
Which camera are you refering to when you say that your shots are under exposed?
