The spec above that nathan suggested would be fine.
Anything over a 2ghz dual core processor and more than 2gig of ram will be fine maby a bigger HDD if possible though
.
Ide also recomend a decent amount of gfx mem as well which seems to of been overlooked. 512mb gfx should suffice.
Also I would recomend to get one running XP as aposed to vista as Vista is very, very greedy with ram!
Obv batt life and screen should also be considered as mentioned above.
One last thing.... AVOID PC WORLD!!!!
Try out the smaller retailers, you normally get more for your money and there more helpfull if something goes wrong.
Hope thats some help to you.
You mean "Fleece Me World surely?

Peter

In terms of memory and cpu, what is now required to run programs like Lightroom 2, and all the latest Photoshop, and indeed future programs from Adobe?

By far the best book is the Magic Lantern Guide link
Much more use than the Pentax manual.
I bought one for my K10D and I learnt so much from it.

I was just thinking, a dangerous thing I know, that the need for many photographers to actually know about photography is reducung day by day as we watch.
Let's take a portrait. We could set a low ISO, a wide aperture, soften the contrast, all the things that help a portrait, or we could push the "Portrait" button and the camera will do all these things for us.
Do we need to know what it's doing (unless we design cameras) and do we lose anything by not knowing? Does it matter or is the final stunning portrait the only thing that does?
I think so much depends upon the person behind the lens.
Are we after a "snap", or a "shot",?
The later being some thing that we strive to achieve, and which will impress us, our friends, family, and hopefully,(in my case some praise, or constructive critism, from Pentax Users).
I try to take better shots, and at 61+, I am still learning, and trying to emulate my peers.
I can only hope that future cameras, will not join the gadget race like mobile phones, with each manufacture adding more gizmos, that we will rarely use, or want.
Video on the K7, being an example!

This is possibly the weirdest photography question I have ever read!!!
Why on earth would you ask this question on a photography website???
I'm stumped!

It is the General Chat forum - doesn't have to be photography related...
I am intrigued to know why it mattered though, I'm with Dan thinking all greenhouses were much of a muchness.

Being pedantic are we? We'll, I'll have you know, a bow does not fire an arrow, it shoots it
Longbow beats the crossbow any day, greater distance achieved, and better penetration.
We inherited a green house when we moved to our bungalow in Kirby Cross, but we have no idea of the manufacturer.
I have reglazed all the broken glass, and with my friend's help, it is back to a working condition.
It needs a casement fitting to the opening vent, and it could do with a couple of new bracing bars to the opening vent, and also to the area in the greenhouse where the casement fitting attaches.
The size is 8 feet x 6 feet.
Please look at the photo in the gallery, and if you recognise the make, please e-mail me through Pentax User.
Kindest regards,
Peter

I took my camera for one of my friends in our archery club this evening. She is thinking of taking up photography again, but didn't like digital, so I said she could have a look at mine. She's now thinking of getting a Pentax!
Anyway, while I was waiting for her to arrive I got a couple of shots, ( not with my bow ).
I like this one.
C&C as always please.

This is a basic question (excuse my ignorance) that has been asked before though apparently not answered (see https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/topic/Which-SDHC-card-4414/p-1).
Any advice much appreciated.
The 7 Day shop offer really good deals, and are now offering a 32 Gig card!
My 16 Gig card is a class 4, and it's fine.
Hope this is of use,
Peter.
