Probably online sales only.

Lets face it, most on here who can just buy a K1 from scratch, the early adopters, as well as keep a collection of glass that's worthwhile on full frame, are those who've worked their careers , paid the mortgage and the bills already, and were lucky to live in a time when their pension has built up enough.
Can't let that one pass! The people you describe (like me) were paying mortgage interest rates that would make your eyes water and it was a real struggle to keep up let alone pay it off. Impossible to save then but now I have savings they return chickenfeed so I will still be working for the foreseeable future. Yes I can afford a K-1 now in the sense that I have the resources to pay, but that is £1600 less that gets put by so it is still not an easy call. But hey, I think I am entitled to enjoy what is left after the taxman has taken his cut. Don't worry Nigel the next generation will look at you with envy, having paid negligible interest on a London property you will be able to retire to a vast country pile and by then the interest rates will mean all the savings you have made will return huge dividends - maybe!

Happy to report the Sigma 150-500mm works fine. Here is one of the local wildlife at the bottom of my garden:

I saw somewhere that an update is available for non-subscriber Lightroom 6, but does anyone know how that is actually done?

Not sure why we have to upset the competition though.
Are we really bothered what non Pentax users think?

Best regards
I meant in a commercial sense, and I have met Nikon/Canon owners who are quite dismissive of Pentax as past it and not the choice of professionals although they are unaware of the medium format range. If this model leads to more users changing to Pentax then the increased sales and market share will reward Ricoh's investment and secure the brand's future. They do have a long term strategy which so far is paying off.

Yes, stu62, I have not been before but previously visited Clifton Cameras a couple of times which is also very good but with less stock on display. Whenever I order any camera equipment online I always check the site has a proper shop I can visit if needs be. I was in Jessops Oxford Street yesterday, hence my comment about "some other places", thinking to buy a couple of memory cards but they seemed a bit clueless and the prices for them were well over the top. A bit miffed to see in Jessops a K50 package with 18-55 lens + 55-300mm lens all for £399.00 which I bought separately a while ago, but a really good deal if anyone is interested.

Away from home all yesterday, kept checking emails and bank account. No activity there so I phoned SRS when I got home, turns out there was a discrepancy on my address so the payment hadn't gone through. Drove down to Watford this morning to collect, it's great to see the shop and the faces behind the communications. Nice also to see the Pentax display not tucked away at the back and looking a bit uncared for as in some other places. Just waiting for the battery to charge!

Weight is exactly the point, and the reason I opted for this lens instead of the 24-70mm. If I want wider then the 15-30mm will do nicely, and I am guessing the prices will start to fall in about 6 months. And there are enough other things to upset the competition without considering the reach of this lens.

Tony identifies a couple of Pentax FF lenses as rebadged Tamrons but without the anti-shake; claims the Tamrons are excellent lenses when tested on other systems but hasn't tested the Pentax outfit. Now, when I asked the Ricoh/Pentax rep at the Photography Show if the Pentax lenses are just rebranded Tamrons as has been rumoured he said absolutely not. He said Tamron make the Pentax lenses to an engineering standard set by Pentax and using glass supplied by Pentax; I don't know if this is true but it would be good if this could be verified.

Another interesting point - he reckons that if you put a really top quality lens on an APS-C body the results are indistinguishable from using a FF and questions why Pentax is going down this route when maybe a 36MP sensor in an APS-C would make more sense given the huge range of lenses available in that format. I'm not totally convinced by that, the only weak point in the K-1 he identifies is the small range of lenses currently available. Otherwise an insightful review worth watching.

More about my order from SRS:

The K-1 and 15-30mm and 28-105mm lenses are now tracked as being with UPS, (the pick-up scan was 3:49 this afternoon), and expected delivery is by the end of Friday, April 29th.

SRS has now taken the payment for the battery grip, (I was very early with my pre-order), and they should get it in the post Friday 29th. Expected delivery is next Tuesday, 3rd May, presumably because of Bank Holiday Monday.

(What do you think: should I wait for the battery grip to arrive before I try the K-1 and lenses? Decisions, decisions!)
It will work perfectly well without, you know you won't wait!
