It seems that Sigma are not hanging around on this:

Unlike Pentax who are now losing K-1 sales and doing nothing

What evidence is there for sales being affected? It is likely that not all Sigma K-mount lenses give this problem, and current models will I guess have the modification done at source.

With initial sales of the K-1 the demand for the new lenses will mean the prices will stay around their launch price for a while, but will drop later - the 150-450 was around the 2000.00 mark but went below 1400.00 on special weekend deals, and probably has further to go. I bought the 28-105 zoom currently 529.00 which isn't unreasonable and will supplement this with one or two primes; look out for good deals on these when the new WR versions are launched next year. Also have you noticed how in comparison reviews the Sigma lenses frequently beat the other manufacturers for performance as well as price? It isn't all strawberries and cream in the Nikon/Canon camps.

I wonder what the 'repair' service is that Sigma refers to - modifying the lenses or patching up scratched bodies?

Jeez, thanks for the warning! I have been using the Sigma 150-500mm which is listed as scratching the body on a K-1 and just checked, but it looks ok thank goodness.

Thanks very much Nigel, I was beginning to think there was something wrong with my equipment.

If I use any of the automatic settings like aperture priority or X-sync with a Pentax flash I notice that by default the exposures all minimise the amount of flash output at the expense of speed, aperture or ISO depending on which setting is used. As a result the camera will apply typically 1/50 sec with f2.8 and the maximum ISO. X-sync only appears to set the speed at 1/180 or 1/200 depending on the camera and again applies minimal aperture and maximum ISO. The only way over this is using manual. Surely an auto setting should give the optimum exposure?

I experimented with a pixel shift image in RAW with movement control, and the four images were automatically combined in camera to produce a single RAW file of almost 200 Mb! I guess that you then process this image as normal. Compared to a normal exposure of the same view there was additional sharpness where the shot was in focus, but I hadn't used the timer or remote cable as is recommended so it could have been better.

Just been away for a few days, so took an ipad to review my photos from the K-1. A bit surprised to find that whereas on the camera you can zoom in to check detail, on the ipad they remain at the same resolution so zooming in just gives an unsharp image. Maybe an update on the ImageSyc app could sort this out.

I liked the way the rear screen info rotates to portrait mode when you turn the camera to portrait, avoiding a cricked neck!
