It came as a shock to me that I switched, mainly because I'd been thinking about it for a while but actually made the decision very quickly.

I did go full frame - the D700 but full frame really wasn't the biggest issue. I haven't got many lenses at the moment but I'm going to add to them slowly and get a couple of zooms then focus on primes.

I take the point about the 300 with converter but in low light focussing would be slow.
I'd doubt if the autofocus would work in the area of interest you require as monbod has described.
I have been using Pentax Equipment for many years, but recently went on a field trip with a photographic society to a birds of prey centre. They demonstrated in flight all species of birds and my Pentax autofocus system could not keep pace. When at a later meeting our work was projected on screen, members images were spectacular, taken of course on Nikon and Canon equipment. Needless to say I did not show any images, they were not good enough and I am an experienced photographer of many years standing.
I to have felt the urge to go Nikon or Canon, for fast autofocus and longer lenses, but I would not sell my older Pentax equipment as some of the manual focus optics are first class.

I use Eye-one Display 2 in a dual monitor set-up, but it will only calibrate one screen, but I was informed about this before purchase.

Well reading through a similar thread I would say yes.

But knowing the NT you will probably find it only applies if your using a compact or camera phone, get the DSLR out and the heavy hand of sucurity will probably throw their weight around
Its a well known fact that security staff are trained to spot a pro-photographer by the size of his camera

EDIT, typo.
I agree, any signs of a professional or dedicated amateur and you will be stopped. Posting your photographs could be another problem, they will no doubt say "its copy right protected" and only for personal use.

I have to concur with Alan Chapman here, you have you own doubts about what to do. Personally I would not post your images anywhere, offer them to the Police for any ongoing investigations, they could, serve a use and offer help to all concerned in the accident.

I should have a chat with "SCOTTHEHAT" on this forum before you buy,he as had some trouble with this lens.
Scott has the 150-500 not the 50-500. There have been no problems with the Bigma that I know of.
My apologies Gwyn, I thought it was his "Bigma" he had trouble with.
