Lovely crisp pictures Matt - in both senses, quality light and image sharpness. What lens or lenses were you using?

Thanks David and Bob - I started out with the 50-135 DA* (the first two) and then switched (as I inevitably find myself doing) to the DA* 300mm. I really rate both lenses! It was pretty much the middle of the day (between 1100 and 1300) so it was at it's brightest. I have since discovered that there was a big protest in the park today as the Government are intending to introduce parking charges, but I managed to miss that altogether (too busy crouching in a hedge I expect )

Beautiful pictures Mat the detail in the Egyptian Goose is really good. Must start saving.

Thanks John - I can't recommend the DA*300 enough - it is a great lens. Having started out today with the 50-135, then swapping to the 300, I am now thinking I should start saving for a DA* 60-250mm.
Mind you from the looks of your portfolio you are getting pretty exceptional results already Whilst I was watching the Egyptian Goose he went into a right 'honk-fest' - really quite funny. All his mates joined in as well!

Lovely shots, and the light was very crisp and bright today, wasn't it? Best wishes, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Thanks Kris and Huw. You are right, Kris, the light was great yesterday. It's nice to have a clear day at this time of year as even at midday there are some good shadows as the sun is quite low. Still cold though. Quite a lot of the ponds in Richmond Park are still largely frozen, or look like mini ice-floes with big chunks of floating ice. It's a great time of year I reckon... and the robins are absolutely fearless! A problem I had yesterday was that I was too close to the little fellers and was worried they would take flight if I moved away...

Aiki, I was thinking the same. But I guess we will have the spring earlier than you.
Saturday we had a superb snow storm and the same is expected for Tuesday again. Cannot get my car out of the garage (which is a bit away from where I live) as there is too much ice and snow in front of the door. Not that a two-seater sports car is the right mode of transportation for this weather anyway.
The shots are heart warming and do spark the hope of warmer days to come. Thanks for that!

Some green shoots starting to poke through...
A Great Tit - I was pretty pleased to get this with the DA* 50-135 as he was fast! (and small), but with a combination of my sneaking and his bravado I ended up quite chuffed:
The inevitable squirrels - first one doing his ninja moves and the other striking a pose!
An Egyptian Goose mid-preen and looking pretty self satisfied:
and a backlit robin coming to see what's going on:
Hope you like them - any comments welcome
