Just wondering how many of you have a calibrated screen so therefore this poll.
With calibrated I mean with a machine and not by eye.

My Samsung SyncMaster 173T seems to produce a good image at factory settings. Colours are OK, and I can normally see all tones in test grayscales, when provided.

I have said yes but that is not 100% correct.

I have 2 identical 1920x1080 24 inch monitors on my PC (recently upgraded for HDTV & blu-ray) but my Huey calibrator only seems to work on the primary screen

Tom, I recently bought the 3 version of that and I'm quite pleased so far. The screen looks a bit duller now and some colours looks different and I thought I had it quite well calibrated by eye but guess not.

For less then 100 pound you can get a calibration device so there is little reason not to buy one if you do photography.

Yeah you need some special software for that i believe... don't know if they provide that.
I know that with the Spyder3Pro you can do multiple screens don't know if there are any Huey products but i'm sure there are.

This site has some very good reviews btw. http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/

In addition to the software allowing calibration of more than one screen (sometimes only a matter of some financial upgrade ), the video hardware and OS also has to support multiple screen calibration. Most video hardware should these days.

Windows XP for example does not allow it without the addition of a hidden piece of software from Microsoft.
You can download the extra control panel item for free, but it is not included with any patch. (If interested I'll have to dig out my old PC and see if I can find what it was called).

Still, even with that, the second monitor would sometimes change color on its own. I mean I'm sitting there working, and instantly the color of the second monitor changes to a different profile. I finally gave up on Windows... headaches gone.

I don't know if Vista supported multi-monitor calibration very well but I believe Windows 7 does a much better job over all.

ATI has some very nice features now for multi display. The new cards mostly support 3 screens out of the box but there are special version that support 6 screens at once.

Ohhh yes, I think I drooled a little when I saw the demo for those.

Nice thing is that although they support three/six monitors the OS thinks it is simply one large screen.
Solves a lot of OS and application related issues.

I only started using the Huey I now have about a month ago - I'd had some prints come back very disappointing, even though they looked Ok on the screen.

The adjustment it made explained the dark prints (the monitor was way too bright), but I haven't repeated the print experiment yet.

For normal use, though, the screen is a lot easier on the eyes.

Gly,

If you use the DispcalGUI program with the Heuy, over their program, you can choose the monitor you calibrate as opposed to just being able to calibate the primary unit.

Brilliant, many thanks, I'll give that a go. Its driving me mad having two monitors that are slightly different .

All LCD's monitors (and TV's) are sent out with their backlights turned up waaaaay too high. However, there are plenty of websites that can help you adjust your settings to more sensible levels, you can solve the worst of the issues with the controls on the fronts.

Colour profiles in your video driver and and calibration devices are all very well, but there's only so much you can do with a bog standard monitor, you can make a big difference by buying an S-IPS panel instead of TN. I've got two (30" and 20") and can't stand ordinary LCD's - if either of those dies, I'll get the old Trinitron out of the attic!

If you're on W7 u could of course just change the primary display and Huey will follow it !!
