I have been practising on seagulls I have found I get the best results by using a full press on the shutter release so as soon as the subject is in focus the picture is taken.
Be very careful when your photographing seagulls, make sure there flying upside down when you look up!

Seriously, for air shows, forget formula, Shutter Speed 500, ISO 200. Aircraft moving horizontally left to right etc, learn the art of panning with your camera, try to follow the aircraft with your lens and click the shutter when you feel you have a shot.

That's the price they are obliged to sell to you at regardless
If I may be permitted to correct you, under The sale of Goods Act, an advertised price is "an invitation to treat" if the price advertised is a mistake by the retailer, human error, the retailer under said act is not obliged under the act to sell at the misquoted price.

I took my Sister's three young kids to the beach last weekend, yes it was Scotland, and we do have beaches, and sometimes there is no rain, and sometimes there is some sun, and sometimes it is quite warm, ok, I know, not very often

Anyway got a lot of images with the kids all jumping about in the sand, water and rock-pools.

I found the 17-70 to be and excellent performer, and I'm really pleased with the results, my little niece, Tara loved this one and she wants it blown up to fit her bedroom wall !!!

This is a superb B&W portrait, well composed with excellent definition and an exquisite subject as well - very well taken indeed.

Agree here, if you can afford to keep your 50mm and as an addition purchase your 17-70mm lens. just my thoughts though, depends how your finances are.
