Under normal conditions it's running all the time and using the bloat-ware that is Vista with 1GB of memory is asking a lot of it.
If it were me I'd either go to XP or 7, but would up the ram in any event.

SWMBO keeps trying to bin it, but it still survives!

The main reason for looking at a grip is for the extra battery capacity/life.
Having gone from a DLII to a K5, I was dismayed to find that the K5 battery lasted a couple of weeks on one charge, whereas the DLII will go for months on one set of CRV-3s or lithium AA's.
I've run the K5 with all enhancements on, let the battery discharge and then gone through the same steps with all enhancements off, the latter provided a day or so more life, but in the scheme of things, it's negligible.
As to which grip, I've spoken to a couple of Pentax dealers and there seems to be some doubt as to the warranty on the camera if 3rd party kit is used and causes a fault; I doubt any of the Chinese suppliers will be too interested either.
£200 for a grip I can afford, £100 for a grip plus a potential £1,000 for a new camera, I can't!
At half the price of everywhere else, I do wonder.

I do need a grip, preferably before next weekend. Has anyone used the above supplier/product?
Having switched the camera to DNG, I've just put a test shot through my usual workflow process and it all worked as expected, so I'll stick with it from now on.
In respect of the K5, it's going to take me ages to get to grips with it. A small experiment in London a few days ago has produced mixed results so far...

I recently took delivery of my K5 and have put a few shots through it using RAW.
Whilst I can view them using FastStone, it won't correctly output JPG's when asked to do a convert - it goes through the process but all I get at the end of it is a load of red boxes or in some cases a pinkish pattern. Oddly enough, PSE7 won't read the PEF's either, I've had to use the supplied Pentax software to convert the files from RAW to JPG then work on them.
Has anyone else had this issue? I've installed the latest version of FastStone and as far as I know, PSE7 is up to date.
Here's hoping...

You are not allowed to use a flash anywhere on the Underground
Tripods are prohibited, not sure where you'd stand with a monopod, but its best not to test the rule
If your camera uses an LED as a focusing aid, switch it off
No one, even a Police Officer, can make you delete images.

Geordie is right, #3 is on a slight incline from R to L, hence one threshold is street level and the other is up a step.
That said, I did "straighten" it, but then everything else gets thrown out, so I left it as it was
