I'd like to upload one of the apparently corrupt RAW files so other people can take a look - where is the best place to do this? I do not have any webspace.
I use www.sendspace.com

As for file recovery, you could try www.pcinspector.de who has an excellent & free file recovery program. I've used it several times when SWMBO has pressed a wrong button on her camera or when a card has seemingly gone rogue.

They had baseball caps 40 years ago!
That is as may be, but as I'm only just over 40, I wouldn't know that

Well, the DA* 16-50mm went back to SRS yesterday.

The weather in London over the last few days has been similar to that which we expect in Mongolia later in the year in terms of light and general visibility.

I was in the City early on Sunday and again yesterday with only the DA* to force me into using it and I have to say that it is possibly the best lens I've ever had the pleasure of using - so far. The LBA started to tug at my coat but before I can get it past SWMBO I've got to try a couple of others.

The DA 12-24 f/4 is next on my list.

All

Many thanks for the comments. I've hired a DA* 16-50mm from SRS for the weekend to see how we get along. Hopefully this will do the trick and I can then buy one, my only concern is that I might need to go lower than the 16mm - so something along the lines of the 10-20mm Tamron might suit me better.

I will know more after the weekend!

Morning all

I'm off to Mongolia for a month later in the year and am in a quandry over what to take.

In the collection I've got the 18-55 and 50-200mm WR's, the 10-17mm fish eye and the 170-500mm Sigma.

Should I take the F/E as well or purchase either;

14mm f2.8 ED IF
15mm f4.0 ED AL
35mm f2.4 DA
35mm f2.8 DA Macro

Or is there something else out there that would be ideal that I've overlooked?

There will be lots of landscape opportunities as well as everyday stuff. Although I've had the f/e a while, I'm not convinced that it will really come into it's own, however; I could be wrong!

Any comments/advice welcome.

Other kit being taken is the K5, DLII and a shed load of batteries!!!

Must be contagious - I've had the K5 since just before Xmas, have managed to run up 1100+ shots but seem to have little to really show for it.

Still, this weekend promises to be the best of the year to date, so maybe there'll be some opportunities...

Thanks Tyr, it's exactly what I want and what RA should have been!

Hi all,

I seem to have been roped in to take a load of staff pictures at work.

I was hoping to be able to use the RA software with the K5 but it is not compatible. Does anyone know of a bit of s/w that will allow me to release the shutter from a laptop and save the files straight on the HDD? I'm trying to avoid paper lists of names, if I can save the file with the person's name it'll save me a lot of time later on.

Any ideas would be welcome!
