I'm in Essex (just) Rush Green and I'd be interested in some kind of club or maybe a group meet?

I'm sure that looking at the sun through a camera isn't good for human eyes either.
I can vouch for this - tracking a Red Arrow at an airshow last year at 500mm, he flew past the sun and I got a magnified eye-full. I was quite dazzled for a while but there was no permanent damage.

As we are now posting examples, this was taken with the DA*16-50mm. Unposed, the subject (my niece) had been having a game of "dodge the lens" with me all day. It is not an image I was intending to do anything with, but I've found with this lens I do a lot less PP than with any of my others.

Sorry, can't seem to link to the image which is in the gallery....

I took one of these on hire from SRS back in April with a view to purchase, at the time I posted that it was the best lens I'd ever used - I now own one.

During my recent visit to Mongolia it was the default lens on the camera, only coming off if I needed to use something else.

Interesting place to visit - holiday or work?

Had a quick look at your photo in the gallery, which made me think of the Oregon Trail tracks we saw a couple of years ago.
I'm looking forward to more photos.

A bit of both.

Since posting about the ability of the K5 to cope in snow, it has also passed the sandstorm test and been subjected to a good dose of rain - a quick wipe and it was again ready to go. My confidence in the "WR" claim has soared - I will try and stick to buying these in the future.

I've uploaded a couple more pictures to flickr, but with nearly 2000 to look through it's difficult knowing what to include or keep out I'll put another one in the gallery now, seeing as you asked nicely

I'm in Mongolia for a while (six weeks, will be back in 8 days).

On Thursday I was high up a mountain with air temps as above, driving snow and a wind that would have a brass monkey looking for a welder!

The K5 and the DA* 16-50mm peformed wonderfully and after a quick spell in the warm to dry the moisture on the lens, both were ready to go again. I know both carry the WR mark, but it is still a bit of a leap of faith using the kit in anything but the driest environment.

Oddly enough, the DLII also worked okay (SWMBO is using this for the trip) with the 18-55 WR kit lens in the same conditions.

To clear ? ? ?

Pentax D-LI90 Li-ion Battery for K7D - To Clear - £63.00 - I don't think so.
Lenses/Flasguns etc all with "to clear" writ large.

Just been having a look at their Pentax kit - no DLSR's and everything else priced "to clear". Looks as though they may be ceasing as a Pentax supplier.

Well, plunge taken - the DA*16-50mm arrived on Thursday.

No grief from SWMBO, I recently got her a new laptop, so I'm several brownie points in credit

I will take the lens out tomorrow for a trial
