Just as an example, just click here
EDIT: There is another one nearly £10 cheaper and it is the same as the above. Click here
PLEASE NOTE: I have nothing to do with either seller, I just did a quick search of eBay and came up with those results and there are more (I only choose high ranking UK sellers).
The original post pointed to a replacement as well and was NOT an original item!

I got one of the cheap, Chinese ones from ebay for the K7. They look fine. Not as good a fit as the real one on my K10d but I don't know how close the K7/K5 ones should be, so I can't comment except to say I'm happy with the finish. The material is identical.
The switch is not a patch on the Pentax version; it's a bit loose, but it works fine. Really handy having a spare caddy to take 6 AA batteries.

Apart from the already mentioned sloppy switch I have no problem with mine, it matches the K5 body quite well and comparing it with the Pentax grip I had on my K20 it would be difficult to tell the difference without a close inspection, I've not had problems with unresponsive control dials or lettering rubbing off (yet).
Its OK to sing the praises of buying genuine Pentax equipment but if moneys tight or you have other purchases in mind too then a cheap grip is better than no grip.
So pull yourself together and get a grip (sorry! couldn't resist that)

It wasn't aimed at anyone in particular Mike, it was just a general observation, perhaps me relating the first part of the post to your earlier one was a little confusing?

I'm in two minds about grips.
they serve 4 purposes IMO
1] extra battery power
2] Space to store a spare DS card
3] shutter button, etc for portrait aspect shooting
4] extra weight to provide stability for hand held shooting
I bought a grip for my K20D. And after using it it for a while ....
I never used 3]. I prefer to use the body's controls when rotating the camera 90 deg.
1] and 2] I can put these spares in my pocket.
So it's only 4]
in view of the above .... I stopped using my K20D grip yonks ago. Now I've no interest in buying a K-5 compatible grip.
I'd like to know what value grips are to others. I might be missing something

My hands are quite large and I just feel that FOR ME the camera is more comfortable in MY hands.I'd like to know what value grips are to others. I might be missing something
I know that a lot want the light small camera that the K-5 is. I personally prefer a bit chunkier heavier body as I can handle this better.
I also like the extra battery in the grip giving me extended life (I know I could swap it easy but I am 'to lazy for that':twisted.
I like to know where my spare card is as I am unlikely to loose it in the grip or search forever where in the x pockets I got I have placed the card and then panic that I lost it.
As for the extra buttons, well to be honest I have not used any of them so far
THIS IS PURELY FOR ME AND DOES NOT REFLECT IN ANY WAY ON ANYONE ELSE's VIEW!
Kind regards

At half the price of everywhere else, I do wonder.

I do need a grip, preferably before next weekend. Has anyone used the above supplier/product?
