Very good night photography. I wonder what the Shard looks like lit up at night?

I could have included it on Wednesday, but to me it is boring, out of place and should never have been built. Sorry, just my opinion

The nights drawing in means I can get out and about just after dark without being up half the night again!

Went up to town on Wednesday last week and grabbed a few images, I was quite surprised how much I'd missed being out with the camera!

When I saw an image I'd taken displayed on a prominent news site, I started blatant Copyright marking - it will encourage the potential user to get in contact and ask for permission and then you can insist on a credit at least.

If I'd been credited originally, I would not have bothered but as LR makes it so easy to do, it became the rule, not the exception.

Having said all that, BT and I recently parted company after 13 years and my free flickr Pro account went at the same time. I'm now using Smugmug which can watermark for you and also disable right-click actions

Is there an early warning? My 16-50 will occasionally refuse to do anything, but a detach and reattach sorts it out until the next time. To be fair, both it and the K5 could do with a proper clean as it seems more contact related, but if these are early signs of impending failure, I'd like to address it.

I went to RIAT2013 a week back and took my Sigma 170-500mm. It was ideal for some shots but too long at the short end for others, so I made use of the 55-200 Pentax as well. As JohnA mentions, at 500mm lenses take no prisoners!

An awful lot will depend on where you put yourself to watch the display, so take that into account. If I'd been a bit further away (I was in the centre) then the biggie would have been the sole lens in use.

This was taken with the 55-200mm

This with the 170-500 at the long end

NB - I know these are not brilliant, but it was my first proper air-show and I've learned a lot from it - better results will be had at Shoreham

Very envious indeed. Just been reading a DA70 review and it sounds the business. I can dream.
As for the fixed FL i don't think you'll find it restrictive or frustrating. I have a couple of zoom but enjoy using my primes (28mm 2.8 & 50mm 1.7) more. You just end up moving your feet a bit more, which is surprisingly enjoyable.
I've got both of those primes - not so keen on the 28mm, but I can't fault the 50mm 1.7 - superb for portrait work.

Does anyone here who uses K5 or K5II get any exposure problems when using the camera on continuous frame shooting.

I used a mixture of continuous and single frame at Fairford. I've just had a look back through some of the CF sections but I can't see any discernible difference in exposures around them.

I was also at Fairford, my count was 987.

I've just purchased a Manfrotto 055PROXB from SRS at £129 to use with my existing head. My requirements were;

Able to take the load from a gripped K5 + Big Sigma
Ability to go tall
Not too heavy in weight or price.

No carbon fiber unit I could see would bear the load and having tried a Slik CF with the above I knew I needed a metal one. The 055 also has the ability to send the centre column horizontal which makes some things much easier. As to getting low - it does that, too.
