I've had some excellent results with mine and the non WR before that.

If you worried about cliches then you wouldn't photograph anything. There are gazillions of images on the internet so very little that hasn't been seen before.

Just photograph what you like. It's original because it will be yours and nobody elses. The trying too hard to be different photo with odd composition, whacky for the sake if it angle or just plain load of blurry crap is just as bad in my book.
Quite. Shoot what you want to, because you want to.

Thanks for the kind words

I was in the same situation exactly 2 years ago - pneumonia and pleurisy came to call which led to week in hospital and confined to barracks until late March. You are doing exactly what I did, nothing wrong with it at all and the next best thing to being out and about. Probably.

My first SLR was a P30 (still got it, metal bodied) and I've stuck with what I know. I did flirt briefly with another well known DSLR manufacturer before taking a K5, but it just didn't feel right in the grasp.

I often go out on shoots with owners of other well known brands and they all take the mickey, until they see the shots it produces...

Oh, penalty round for the person who started this thread - since when did a Pentax group sink to using "U" instead of "you"?

When I'm out east I take a lightweight basic laptop which allows use of e-mail & skype as well as being the storage medium for each day's work - it is a lot harder to lose a laptop than an SD card. Well, that is my logic, anyway

Ray, thanks for that nugget of info re Dropbox. I have a Samsung phone so well check it out!
My pleasure - I'm exactly half way through my 2 year freebie today and I suspect I'll end up paying a sub in another 12 months, unless something else happens in the interim

BT's divorce from Yahoo meant this was always on the cards. I left BT last July after 13 years as a happy customer who had never looked anywhere else - all because I didn't use the landline for a month so they decided to charge me a £10 penalty. I'm now with a ISP that costs a pound or two less each month, gives web-space and a fantastic array of tools and 24/7 UK support. Oh, my upload speed doubled on migration and I'm on rolling monthly contracts too.

As to the Flickr issue, I knew I'd lose my pro accounts when I left BT and was already shopping around for an alternative. I settled on Smugmug which costs me about a tenner a month but is secure, allows the option for people to buy prints if they wish and also has the ability to disable "right click downloading". I'm quite happy with it all.

I can remember BT before the tie-in with Yahoo - it seems that they want to get back to core services, maybe they will come up with their own bells & whistles in a year or so?

As a quick aside, I too use Dropbox quite a lot - if you've got a Samsung phone/gadget and link it to your dropbox account you get 50GB storage free for 2 years

There is a nice camera shop in Romford, T & B (Photographic Services) Ltd, with nice staff, prices a bit higher but I happily paid for advice on monopod a few years ago and the odd smaller bits of equipment, but they don't hold Pentax in stock (they would order in though I think, certainly 3rd party lenses).

I head to Watford for all my purchases now, having dabbled and been burned by poor service from Park Cameras when I thought they ahd a good deal...

Near work are TCR Spectrum (who work very hard to damage any pretence that Pentax are supported by professional dealers...dreadful barrow boys and Ricoh need to remove their pro status asap if not sooner),
I often wonder how TCR Spectrum are still in business. I went in their twice and neither time did they have any prices and were reluctant to tell you them, then dismissive of any questions you had and basically really rude. On my second visit the 'assistant' just walked off when I was mid question when he realised he wasn't getting a sale for me!
T&B happen to be the company I didn't name in my posting on the previous page.

I have one in my local town centre and I used them a few times for everything BUT Pentax gear - they'd order in if you begged, but didn't stock it. I stopped using them after arriving at the shop one evening, 10 minutes before their advertised closing time, to buy something that they had in stock. The door had been locked but there was someone inside, I pointed to my watch, he shook his head. I waved cash (quite a bit, I was after a tripod) but still his head was shaking.

I've not been back since.

It may or may not be a good idea, I don't know. What we should be wary of is getting into a situation where sellers feel it is their "right" to feedback - it should be a totally voluntary thing with no pressures.

I bought something from a supplier (a business) not so long ago and gave the middle of the 3 options presented which to me was "good" as opposed to "terrible" or "exceptional". The trader concerned hassled me for weeks to change it to the higher category as he felt it was his "right" and as nothing went wrong he was so entitled. It all got rather ugly, I didn't change the rating and will not use the supplier concerned again, which is his loss - a rival has picked up all the work and has never asked for a thing.

The point is, this is a pretty well run forum and quite friendly - I'd hate to see it get dragged down by a ratings system that is at best, subjective.
