Public Feedback On User's Profiles..

I've just completed yet another faultless transaction. I've just posted some positive feedback on hogboys personal profile.

Why don't we all do it? I've done quite a few transactions here and been very happy with them.
The 1st time you do deal here it can get tense, as its al based on trust. Being able to see what other folk have to say about the person your dealing with would be good.

I'd put it on the for sale thread so we can see how a transaction went. I don't think many people look at the personal profiles, not compared to how many look at the forum. Do both if you like!

Do you not think feedback get lost if it's in a thread. If you are looking at a specific member how do you know what he has bought, sold, how long ago, did he actually post in the thread or was it done by PM, etc.

One of the other forums i am a member of, have a system called itrader, its part of your profile and your seller rating is clearly displayed along with your other details in your profile, could this be a feature on here ??

It should be the last entry in the thread Barrie, a conclusion to a deal. As for checking a member's feedback, there's no formal way to do this, so I would look at his profile and check any for sale thread that he had been involved in.

Of course the classifieds are subject to the overall thought "caveat emptor" (let the buyer beware) as they are just adverts, not a system like eBay.

Pentax User doesn't get involved in transactions between members, so I doubt it. The terms of use spell it out very clearly.

It's only a guide of a users feedback,the other site makes this very clear, and does not get involved in any disputes, nor accept any liability etc, but does give prospective buyers a rough idea of a users history, without digging down into a users posts.

Sorry for butchering your post John, but this bit does cut out some steps, and its what Daz has done, and then posted there. Makes perfect sense to me. Only thing which would have improved the feedback from Daz would have been include a direct link to the for sale thread.

That's fine Alan. I'm just thinking aloud that many people won't think to check the profile for such comments. I could be right, but could be wrong.

It may or may not be a good idea, I don't know. What we should be wary of is getting into a situation where sellers feel it is their "right" to feedback - it should be a totally voluntary thing with no pressures.

I bought something from a supplier (a business) not so long ago and gave the middle of the 3 options presented which to me was "good" as opposed to "terrible" or "exceptional". The trader concerned hassled me for weeks to change it to the higher category as he felt it was his "right" and as nothing went wrong he was so entitled. It all got rather ugly, I didn't change the rating and will not use the supplier concerned again, which is his loss - a rival has picked up all the work and has never asked for a thing.

The point is, this is a pretty well run forum and quite friendly - I'd hate to see it get dragged down by a ratings system that is at best, subjective.

Folks could post links to their last trades in their "about me" section of their profile, I think that's visible to other members.

This thread is a timely reminder for me to post feedback on a couple of recent sale threads where I purchased an item.

I normally do add a comment to the sale thread but have neglected to do so recently.

I do find the feedback that we provide each other to be useful, especially for a relative newcomer such as myself.

Personally I think it's an excellent idea.

A sticky at the top of the sale section (along with a PU disclaimer) may help?
