Well it certainly 'floats my boat':!: I recognised the location from the 'thumbnail' as I've often stood in that very same spot and let my eye rove over the wavlets to Cat Bells and the fells beyond. What works particularly well for me is the way the boulders on the shore form a little 'spit' that leads the eye into the middleground and on to the background. Don't waste time and energy knocking yourself, Dub: there are plenty of people out there who'll do it more forcefully and for free:)
Loved the image (are we still allowed to say this? cf recent exchanges in the forum:twisted:) because of, and not in spite of, the 'lighting errors'.
Friend or model?

Simply stunning, Ken.
The superb condition and colouration of the butterfly, when combined with the sharpness of the image and incredible DOF, is a joy to behold.
Phew! I'm just off for a cold shower:!:
Best wishes,
Jon:wink:

Sharp, presentable and clean. A dab of nail varnish would add colour and interest. Oh, and remove that distracting purple thing in the top RH corner:!:.
Definitely one to be 'filed'.

Way to go, Steve!
Fabulous composition with the contrasting diagonals (vertical stem and grasshopper; horizontal (near) criss-crossing twigs and stems) set against the sharp head, forelimbs and diverging antennae projecting back into and out of frame. Lighting is just right for my tastes, too.
How did you persuade the subject to pose for so long with such style?

Gary,
You've got to stop posting images like this: at least until my Dictionary of Lesser Known Superlatives arrives from Amazon:D
Although you have been generous enough to share some of your 'tricks' with me, I'm convinced your holding back something key which allows you to capture such normally flibbertigibbet creatures at high resolution and magnification. I think I've now narrowed it ...

Damn you Hardgravity (just kidding: I'm so furious I could spit (bit like the little fella in the image, really):!:
I've been trying to identify the critter since last night and, based on morphological features and pale colour, had narrowed it down to the nymphal stage of an Hemipteran, and given a little more time would probably have come to the same conclusion as you - honest:mrgreen:

Cher Henri,
Both your children are beautiful and your composition and technique clearly reflect the depth of feeling you have for them.
Incidentally, did your son find what he was searhing for:?:
Je vous adresse mon très amical souvenir,
