A magnificently arresting portrait that the viewer has to make a real effort to turn away from. The framing/cropping is 'spot on', IMHO, as is the camera angle and lighting. DOF and focal point have been set superbly, resulting in an image with a wonderful '3-D' quality. Enough of the superlatives, already - I was just 'blown away' Jon:wink:

One of the most striking and original butterfly captures I've seen in quite a while - and that includes any I have on file! Carefully planned and prepared for or just a case of the right place and right time? Either way, its capture required good skills and an appreciation of what makes a great, rather than just good, composition. Bravo indeed:!: :D

Hola, Very clever and effective, Glynn. It takes real cojones to produce and post an abstract composition like this. Saludos cordiales de Sancho Panza:mrgreen:

I like this - a lot! Beautifully framed/cropped and sharp, which, consdering the aperture set was f2.8:shock:, is quite an achievement:!: Have you the reflexes of a striking cobra or did you use continuous mode to capture the shot:?: Who came off worse from the collision that surely ensued: you, the hurdler, the K20D or all three:?: Jon:wink:

Gary, Do I detect the influence, perhaps subliminal, of Renee Magritte here? I'm sure he would have approved of your treatment of the sky. Can't decide whether there were some very careful exposure calculations made at the time of capture, the final image is an HDR 'sandwich' or you have done some advanced editing in PS to retain such exquisite detail on both sides of the dividing wall. What ...

Obviously a wonderful spot, Jim and a lovely sky but the photo lacks structure and shape, in my opinion, despite the good low angle foreground it's the lack of "framing elements" on either side to hold the eye, if you know what I mean. Looking at this beautifully composed and framed shot helps me to better understand the comments made about Jimpy's shot of Derwent Water. The effect is, to my ...

A technical and aesthetic Tour de Force: I defy anyone with eyes and feeling to find fault with it:D. One thing that comes to mind, however,... Jon:wink:

Sorry, but just not up to your usual standards: there were actually parts of the Tit's plumage where I was unable to discern individual feathers, their barbs and barbules. There is a little known aphorism that sums up your current malaise succinctly: When success knocks at your door remember that complacency is never far behind. Att. to Jeal Ousgit, a friend and associate of Monsieur D ...

Are their no limits to your talents:?: Spare a thought for us mere mortals as you gaze down on us through your mighty macro from on high:!: Don't wish to be rude, your omnipitence, but shouldn't you be taking the opportunity to support the 'home' team (Olympus) a bit more:lol: Jon:wink: P.S. The magic of PS can't disguise the fact that your images, whilst remaining technically brill ...
