Dear Mr Evans, My client's has instructed me to fast-track legal proceedings against you for failing to include the appropriate health hazard warning with this image unless his breath is returned by the end of business today. Yours sincerley, Sol Icitor, e-mail: [email protected] Don't think my visual cortex could cope with the original, let alone my respiratory syst ...

Hi Guido, I think your visitor is a particulary pale specimen of the Plume Moth (Emmelina monodactyla), also known as the 'T-Moth'. These are found throughout Europe and in other parts of the world. http://ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=592&bf= http://wapedia.mobi/en/Emmelina_monodactyla Best wishes, Jon8)

Hi Neil, Great choice of subject, excellent composition, careful exposure and loads of detail, which is just a long-winded way of saying I LIKE IT:D If it were mine, however, as well as being pleased with the result, I might be tempted to use the clone tool or healing brush to remove the 3 brown blemishes on the petals. Regards, Jon

Hi Ken, Your photographs should come with the following health warning: Viewing this image will likely induce an insatiable craving for a DA* 300mm and seriously damage your bank balance! Not that I believe this is the only reason you submit such a high proportion of 'crackers'! Do you think I could convince my other (and better) half that by getting one sooner rather than later we' ...

Ken comes up trumps again - definitely a weevil but haven't a clue what type. I've looked through my field guide and on the web but can find nothing that quite matches the detailed photofit of the suspect you've provided. Thanks for the additional details regarding your technique, Gary. I've just managed to get hold of a set of extension tubes that, with a little DIY, support AE and TTL flas ...

Lesser Spotted, if I'm not mistaken, and a fine specimen, too. Taken in the open or from a hide? Either way, it's an impressively sharp and beautifully framed (cropped?) shot. Perhaps it's time your 'handle' was changed to reflect the fact that you must have 'graduated with honours' some time ago! Regards, Jon

Hi Gary, Congratulations on capturing such an arresting image. I've been studying it closely trying to work out how you managed to achieve the extraordinary DOF at such high magnification ratio. Would you consider sharing your secret(s)? Yours in awe, Jon

A technical and artistic tour-de-force. Bravo! I've just glanced in the mirror and my face is now as green as the little critters back (not so satisfying to study in detail, however)! Jon

Lightning fast reactions or just good luck? Either way, it's an image that would make me grin from ear-to-ear (not a pretty site; trust me)! I might be tempted, however, to do a 'Photoshop' on the slightly distracting background colours behind the finch's head. Best wishes, Jon

Thanks for the additional info', Tom, which now presents me with a crushing dilema: should I continue as planned and scrimp and save for a DA* 300mm or switch tack and go for the 60-250! Suggestions, but preferably cash contributions, welcomed. "...from inside the gaden shed through glass..." Please let me know which product you are using to clean your shed window as I wish to purchase so ...
