I'll be working at silverstone this weekend, with the relatively poor photo oportunities & my time restrictions I'll probably only bring my Micro 4/3s camera rather than the K7.

From what I've seen of the timetable I should have a fair bit of free time on the saturday morning, and should get some time around lunch/church breaks too.
(I not involved in Formula Renault or the GT3s, but will have to work at the end of the qualifying/race sessions for all the others)

I'll drop Percy a PM with my mobile as it would be nice to meet up with other Pentax Users. I should be able to get you a coffee/soft drink, and maybe even some behind the scenes access

I think you'll find that ALL LEDs will have discontinuous (incomplete) spectra. Just some will be significantly worse than others. Good ones will be balanced so the they look acceptable to both camera sensors and the human eye. (It may even be that the filters in cameras Bayer sensors might vary sufficiently that a LED will seen acceptable to one camera model but not to another manufacturers.) Don's 'Try before you buy' advise is good if you can, if not be prepared to return/resell and take a loss.

It may be that the 160 LED model Geoff is referring to allows different numbers of LEDs to be turned on to give control over light output, but I think this is a relatively uncommon feature.

I now use LED bulbs in the light fitting in my dining room - they come on instantly (unlike the older energy saving lamps) and are very efficient. On the occasions I've taken photos there since I've found I'd been lucky as the white balance is reasonable even on AWB.

In mixed lighting situations things will become MUCH more difficult.

Ken is right that you can't compare LED lumins to flash GN, but I think his reason is wrong. LEDS are a continuous light source, so shutter speeds effect the exposure whilst flash is a single short burst eliminating the shutter speed from exposure calculations. Reflectors & modifiers affect the lighting from flash pretty much as they will from LEDs.

I've not seen this magazine before, and would love to have a closer look.
You have a PM

I bet you were cursing to have missed the plane, it could have worked really well! The dissapointment in missing it has probably effected your veiws on what you did get which is also very good. Technically it's all there, and the vapour trails are reminisent of giant buggy tracks, so the image is worthy of it's added fame.

it says its a k mount. No it will only fit in the recess but will not lock. As for drilling,as i said i am a rank novice, so would not know where to start. Thanks anyway. Hopefully the seller will take it back.
It's not a PK mount but if it fits in the recess it MAY be possible to use it anyway.

You'll have to change your cameras menu setting to shoot without lens (I don't know why this defaulted to 'No') if you haven't already. It is quite likely the focusing distances will be wrong as the rear flange distance of this unknown mount may not match the PK's 45.46mm, but many mounts are reasonably close so you might be lucky.

Looking atthe mount there appear to be NO linkages mechanical or electrical, so the lens will only function as in Av, M & B modes, with manual focus, what-ever camera it's used on.

If you brought it on-e-bay (and probably the case in any event) the lens is not as described so they have no option about refunding you.

With the K5 so readily available I don't think I 'd get anyone willing to pay enough for my K7 that I could justify selling it.
I suspect the same is true for others with a K7.

If I could trade the K7 +£100 for a reasonable K5 I think I'd grab the opportunity quick as a flash. Any more than that requires CapEx approval.

Lovely images. The participants obviously take their hobby seriously.

Being pedantic, this appears to be an English Civil War re-enactment - definitely post mediaeval.
Agreed on all points!
And as John says the closer shots work better, the last one shows how small a group the pikemen are, so easily outflanked they wouldn't last a minute.
