How come? The emphasis seems to be on defining what's different to other brands, which is a fair approach don't you think?

There is a '*except some models' disclaimer directly underneath the words about weather resistance and it doesn't make any false claims so I can't see anything misleading?

The spelling mistake is a bit amateurish, but I think the overall thrust of the advert is positive and sells the benefits quite well.

I thought the disclaimer was:

* But if the camera get damaged by water, then it is not covered by warranty.

I can see positive aspects as far as the brand promotion goes - Pentax is starting from behind so needs to emphasise what separates the system from other DSLR competitors - sure, the 100 colours thing is not going to interest traditional 'enthusiest' or pro photographers. But the other things like SR, WR, the lens line-up and weight of lenses I'm sure are all worth shouting about.

I also think there needs to be more elaboration on the different features and abilities of the different cameras and who they would be aimed at. Admittedly recently there has been a move closer together between the models in terms of IQ, but there are plenty of control and operating features that distinquish between them that could be detailed I feel.

I don't think you will find many, if any 'weather resistant' products will absolutely guarantee against water ingress. Pentax don't claim their SLR products are waterproof, so I can't understand what the issue is here?

It was ok up until they started going on about all the colours you can have it in,

Then how many more lenses they stock for a APS-C sensor cameras then brand A and brand B shouldn't that read we stock more lens for APS-C cameras as we don't do FF cameras so pointless making anymore then we do.

Then we get on to how rugged the cameras are, but don't tell you that if you have to make any sort of warrenty claim, it's void if you have used it how they advertise it.

So just leaves us with points 3 and 5 and most MFT cameras offer that anyway

Maybe it's just me feeling a bit let down after this weeks big announcement

David,

the issue is, for instance, this. It is quite misleading to have an ad campaign as this one, but then show no interest whatsoever when a brand user has problems.....

I did see the thread on the water ingress problem, but the point is that Pentax don't advertise the SLR's as waterproof, so I still can't understand why there's an issue.

Some common sense is surely expected to be applied and the fact that some Pentax SLR's have a degree of weather resistance gives people the confidence to use them when other cameras may be put away. I certainly would not expect my K-5's to be fully waterproof and I wouldn't expect Pentax to cover water ingress under warranty, unless there was clear evidence that a manufacturing defect existed in one or more of the seals.

I don't think Pentax's position on this is any different to any other manufacturer?

That's actually a very good page. Looking at it on a positive note, it talks about the Pentax system, and not just a camera.

To me it says "Get a durable camera, with quality lenses, in a variety of colours".

Durability
Customisation
Value for Money
Rich Feature Set

That's what it will say to other people looking to join the system.

But old time users of Pentax will find this a bit misleading.
