I'm surprised it has taken you so long to get your hands on this gem of a lens, sometimes called 'a bunch of primes' for it's sharpness ? You won't be disappointed
I got mine a year or so ago after someone on this Forum suggested it when I was complaining about my DAL 18-55 kit lens.

The crux of the matter is "What do you want to do ?"
We all have different ideas and aspirations so there is never a simple "One size fits all" solution.
Getting as near as I can I can only suggest that my inclination is to keep the K7 and spend the money on glass. My first digital camera was a 2MP Canon A40 and I still have some A4 prints that are pin sharp - pixels are not the answer to everything but you can never beat a good lens.
Again it all depends on how and what but IMHO I would not chose the 55-300 for Macro work since the minimum focus distance is virtually 'in the next room' ! As John said, this is great for shooting flowers at the back of the bed but generally if you want to shoot bugs as well as flowers you need to be very close.
Amongst all this confusion you might want to do a SWOT analysis and jot down all the factors that are important to YOU and then compare a range of lenses.
Best of luck !

However, I liked the original for it's true record of what the falls looked like !
Whatever, good work, Stan

That's a great start then Stan, both the taking of the shot and processing It all looks very natural, good exposure (the brightest part of the water is the white-point), and you've kept detail on all the rocks apart from the darkest shadow areas which don't matter.
I'd probably crop a bit off the top and the RH side, just to tighten it up. Processing -wise, well I can't think of anything to say ... and I usually can!
However, I think I'll disagree with Nigel on this occasion as regards the cropping ? I can see why the right side is left there to include the side fall.
Good work

Can you advise on how it does at high ISO levels thank you for the feed back all.
As a generalisation I'd use any recent Pentax DSLR up to ISO 1600 without any concerns whatsoever.
I didn't want a heavier camera so the K50, with it's WR protection and sensor from the K5 and the TAv mode (not on the K-r), seemed the obvious upgrade for me. Getting the DA18-135WR in the kit was the 'icing on the cake'.
