Not wishing to be provocative, and I know this is going a bit off-topic, but these Gulf states (and others in the middle east) wish to be accepted as modern 1st world countries; however even though they possess the wealth they still operate as feudal societies. Just look at the absence of any form of democracy and the way they carry out barbaric punishments.

I get 2 separate images, as if I'd pressed the shutter twice.

Anyway I got a pro to check the camera over (thanks Mr Bridge ) and he confirmed that the shutter button is faulty.

So I'll be using my new Freedom Pass to travel to Watford for a repair (to the camera, not to me!).

Or even a grocers' apostrophe .

Thanks Neil for your exhaustive response . I've just checked and the camera is on aperture mode, and is definitely set for single frame. I tested it and the shutter clicks twice (not more) intermittently, say once every 10 or 20 shots. If there is a fault it's a relief that I bought it from a well-known shop in Watford

No- I don't often use Live View.

I suppose this is another step along the inexorable road to exclusively online publishing. But I'm not aware of magazine/newspaper sites making any money. The Times has just introduced a pay-wall- I'd bet there aren't many subscribers. Reading online is a totally different ball-game: you click and choose what to read from what is available rather than being loyal to one publication.

Having said that, most of the printed photographic magazines that I see may look pretty but are sloppily written. The 2 exceptions are Popular Photography and AP. Pentax User was usually in the well-written category and it's a great shame its demise is imminent.

Oh well, I suppose progress is inevitable etc.

I've always used Photobox. They're not too dear and they deliver in a day or 2. Ok, I haven't won much with their prints at the local camera club, but that's down to the photographer!

Regrettably the only musical instrument I can play is the iPod.
