Well The Pentax Magazine is to cease publication, and there is to be a new website.
What views, insight, or opinions do Pentax Users have?

What do we want included in the new website?
I'm interested to know.

That's not exactly what the announcement said, but a thread has already been started elsewhere.

This site continues, and further development of it is expected....

The magazine's last issue will be 04/2010.
Best regards, John

How many members will we lose this time around?

The thread moaning about it could beat the Pointless thread for pages

Well yes, but we were uncharacteristically united...

It seems a bit futile to moan about something that hasn't happened though!

You've not had much political experience then...
Still shooting in the dark (literally and metaphorically)...

Technically, this isn't moaning yet. It's a combination of nostalgia and anticipation.

Let's all be positive about this.

This is a site for "Pentax Users", and if it is going to survive and be successful, then it's up to us to make it happen!

We all need to contribute something, be it a phototograph in the gallery, or a piece of advice, or a comment on an issue.

I enjoy my K20D, and this site, long may they both survive!

Kindest regards,

Peter.

As was stated on the previous thread, the web site should survive on the ad revenue.

The other thought was about the PDF copies.

Do these exist for previous editions of PU, and how far back do they go if they do?

If not could they be produced in year book form and offered as a pay to down load item?

I don't subscribe because I didn't feel the need to, but older copies from the film or early digital age would be of interest to me, and probably others too.
Cheers, HG

Well the news made the "other forum" I see.

I only lurk there and am not likely to join it, preferring our small friendly "low usage" forum. Hopefully we can retain the forum if not the magazine.

Hi guys. Don't worry we're not going to make any changes to this web site that will affect you're use of the gallery of forums. We will start to add articles to the article section rather than produce them for the magazine.

We decided to stop the magazine because print costs have been increasing and subscriber numbers decreasing. We used to get some support from Pentax but that's been reduced too. And the various offers and incentives to be a club member have been stripped away so it's started to become less value. So we decided the time had come to make the difficult decision. Sad to see it go after so many years.

Yes we have every issue in pdf format and intend to make those available for download at some point. Watch this space.

Nice to hear that from you Peter, must have been a tough decision, but I'm sure the right one. I used to subscribe to the magazine in the 70's 80's before you owned it (I think). I'm not as keen these days and rarely buy any photo mags unfortunately

Best of Luck with all your websites, which like it or not is the direction in which all publishing has to move.
