Hi Hardgravity

As far as I'm aware the class of a card relates to it's read and write speed. Class 6 is faster than class 4 is faster than class 2. I think you will find that different manufacturers cards have different read and write speeds, some are better at reading data, some better at writing and some quicker at accessing information from a random point on the card.

I can't remember offhand what the minimum read/write specs are for each class and I have no idea if the fastest class 4 cards are qucker than the slowest class 6. My understanding is that class 6 cards are necessary for recording high quality camcorder files as it requires high write speeds.

I guess for DSLRs the best reason for using class 6 cards is to improve your FPS continuous shooting speed. Whether the card or the camera is currently the limiting factor though, other more experienced members will have to say. I guess that the best class 6 cards for you will have the quickest write speeds.

Also check that your camera is compatible with class 6 cards

The 16-50 is on my camera most of the time and the 50-135 in my bag. I have Hoya HD polarising filters for both which are also always in my bag. If it's raining either one lens or the other and no bag. I'll try to choose shots according to the available lenses, as someone wrote above it's a great way to exercise creativity.

Today there was no chance of rain so I just took my recent Ebay purchased M 28 f2.8 with M50 f1.7 in my pocket. Exercses the creativity even more. I don't have a flash yet as there's more than enough for me still to learn just with the lenses. If I was out all day I might take my tripod (cheap and light) with remote.

Presumably you have checked that both the body and lens are set to autofocus

It is easy to forget to switch back if you use manual focus (for macro work for example).
Yes autofocus was set correctly on both body and lens.

Comment by mpjx posted on DA*50-135 SDM noises - is it a cause for concern? at 22/12/2009 - 16:52

Just used my DA*50-135 for the first time in a couple of months.

Autofocus worked fine with SDM but the lens kept making little clicking noises while it was focussing. The noises were not loud but definitely there - they sounded a bit like metal drawing pins dropping on a table top. My DA*16-50 SDM definitely does not make the same noises when autofocusing.

Are these noises anything to be worried about or not? At least is was purchased from SRS so there should not be any difficulty getting it sorted if that's necessary.

A DA* 10-16 WR might be possible but I think a series of lenses for the 645D will be most likely and logical. The K7 will have been replaced by this time next year.

I deal with quite a lot of English -French design projects. The Pentax store copy reads as though it was written by someone who does not speak English as their first language and/or has been subject to a poor translation. There has obviously been no QA done by a native english speaker.

The whole design makes me think this has been put together through Pentax Europe in Paris on a limited budget and in limited time. Honestly I have seen one man band ecommerce sites which are more professional than this.

Luckily for Pentax there are people like us who actually care about the brand. Pentax Europe seems like a joke and the site will do absolutely nothing to promote the brand to new users.
