Welcome to the forum Alan, don't worry about shooting film or slide, a lot on here are still doing that as well as using digital.
I don't have a KX or KM, but do have a K1000 which I hope to use when the weather gets better.

Glad to have joined! & probably in the minority here because I still shoot slide film in Pentax KX & KM Bodies which have recently been serviced by Harrow Technical.
Still a Delight to use & performing 100% after all these years!
Like to do everything manually & that includes using a handheld meter.
Love to shoot views of the River Crouch which is a short walk from home & love Wildflowers & Fungi especially!
Lenses, Well, All from ebay which include a 50mm 1.4, 28mm 2.8 Sigma 90mm macro & 75-150 zoom by Pentax.
