Ah yes, digital obsolescence.

At home I a have a few old 100 mb zip drives full of mp3s. These days I don't have a PC that can read them of course.

You have to ask yourself is there something else you want or need that will get more use ? They might be a couple of the best lenses ever made, but if you never use them perhaps you should put them up for sale anyway.

I'm currently mulling over the same thing with some of my little used gear.

It's not easy is it.

Good luck,

Not happy with the direction Pentax are going, but hey, if I don't buy into the new stuff, it won't bother me.
I remember back in the 1980's when I had a Super A and Pentax introduced the SFX I said exactly the same thing. Back then I just did not see the need for autofocus and thought the SFX was an ugly looking thing.

So here we are 25 years later or so and I never left Pentax. Even ended up owning a SFXn which has proved to be a great camera. Ok she is not a thing of beauty, but a very good camera none the less.

Very rarely these days. That said I have just purchased a couple of new batteries and plan a day of getting to know my ME Super again very soon. Got 3 rolls of Kodachrome 64 to use up too.

For an amusing take on the subject of Language, its origins and usage I can recommend a podcast by Stephen Fry. Titled "Language".
Available on iTunes for free.

If Pentax were to make a FF DSLR who would the target group be ? The professional segment or the amateur ? Surely if they want a slice of the professional market they will have to develop a range of lenses and accessories to match and have those in place at the launch date. Then there is the support pros require and the possibility to hire gear. The investment required to do all that would be huge. And with the launch of the 645D I just don't see it happening.

If they aimed it at the amateur market instead and had a camera with similar specification levels as the Nikon D700 or Canon 5D and pitch it at the same price level as those cameras (currently around £1700 at Park Cameras), would they be able to sell enough of them to make it financially viable ? I really don't know.

Out of interest, how many following this thread would be willing to part with around £1700 for a FF Pentax DSLR ?

Just some idle ramblings. It Friday and I am rather looking forward to a couple beers tonight.

I know this camera is an old Cannon AE1 and of course its just a well made mock up with a digital compact camera inside, but it demonstrates perfectly the type of DSLR I want to own. I love the pre auto focus SLR cameras of 1970s/80s.

Just imagine if Pentax could make a ME-D, LX-D or you name it.. I would be willing to pay quite a premium for one.

FA135 - KEH currently have one on their web site at $465 and it has been there a while now. Perhaps that gives a rough idea what it might fetch ?

I rather like the following quote:

Prediction is very difficult, especially about the future.
Niels Bohr

There were similar K5 rumours in Sweden a few months back, but thats all they were. Just rumours.
