I'm sorry to hear of your loss

still for some unfathomable reason the M 200 doesn't fetch that much on fleabay (or didn't used to) so hopefully you'll be able to get another one without breaking the bank.

I am a ebay and paypal virgin (sold a canon rebel 2000 for 6.90 that will teach me to but a reserve price on an item)
[/quote]film cameras on ebay fetch nothing these days unless they are a particularly collectible model (an LX or equivalent). I'm quite impressed you got that much for it.

I've always felt the obsession with LCD size in small cameras and laptops to be counter productive.

The idiocy of the average consumer spoils life for the rest of us

I'm not going to say anything because I'm afraid my luck will run out if I do.

only one of the Yes's is me.

Both units were under warenty and SRS provided their usual fantastic level of support in getting it sorted out. I was only party to it second hand so not completely sure how long it took to get fixed but since we didn't know the camera was broken until the lens came back it was obviously quite a while.

If you find yourself photographing an object in the night sky which isn't at infinity, we all have bigger problems than a few out of focus photos.

If the infinity stop on your old lens isn't accurate, focus on something a long way away before it gets dark and hold the focus in position with something like masking tape. I am lucky in that the lens I use for astro has an adjustable click stop on its focus. If you have to focus at night, find the brightest star you can and focus on that on the ground glass screen.

HG the K20 is the 14.6Meg Pentax/Sammy sensor

So far the reports of Pentax Nazis forcing one to actually engage the video mode seem to have been exagerated, and the price and other features don't seem to have been overly impacted by its inclusion so I don't see a problem.

The LX epitomised the ultimate in Pentax 35mm Cameras and i would love to see a DSLR WORTHY enough to carry that name on!

No question, but that's not what the thread is calling for. The OP and others are after something which looks, feels and acts like an LX except that it captures images digitally rather than on film.

The very fact that this thread exists shows just how good the LX was, good as they are I can't see anyone in 20 years saying "you know, what I want is a K7Quantum"

Since Dad never posts here, I'll report his for him.

A 50-135 blew its SDM and fell back to screw drive, when we had the lens repared we discovered that the camera's (A K10D) SDM drive workings were also knackered so that had to go in for repair too. No idea if it was coincidence or if one component blew up and took the other with it, but both ended up in the shop.

Then why not simply chisle off the decals from a K7 and write LX-D there instead?

If a digital LX didn't replicate the film LX in function then it would simply be re-using the name. Nothing outright wrong with that in marketing terms, but it wouldn't be an LX anymore than the new budget body is a KX.
