the only thing I know is that "tis in the evening after dark, the blackleg miner creeps to work, with his moleskin pants and dirty shirt, there goes the blackleg miner".

Always loved the song, but only recently discovered what the words actually mean!

I always shoot raw and generally leave it on AWB, WB is something I just don't think about until I get to my computer.

interesting that the RAW noise comes out higher than the K20D, I thought the new sensor was supposed to have lower noise than the old one?

actually come to think of it I went out with only one lens a month ago.

It was a 300mm prime and I was going to a bird hide however, so it probably doesn't really count.

for that price difference you could actually go in person to the Netherlands to pick it up, and still save a few quid!

I was thinking about this the other day

I used to do this a lot. When I was an undergrad I would regularly go wandering around the campus with a camera and often took just one 50mm lens with me (later when I got a DSLR my Flektogon 35mm became the lens of choice).

Haven't done it for a while, but I might try it again soon.

My K10D and *istDL2 have both been out in the snow with no ill effects whatsoever. I was a little more careful with the DL2, keeping it dry where possible, but it did get damp and it didn't care.

Anyone see the Optio WR series advert which used the tag line "go ahead, dunk it!". I wouldn't recomend that with any DSLR, but they are pretty resiliant short of that (even the non WR ones!)

when I was first involved with computers (~1989) portable storage maxed out with the Iomega Bernoulli Box Drive, which packed a stagering 20MB of data onto a single 5.25" disk cartrage.

A Blue-Ray Disk is about the same size and has a capacity (single layer) of 25GB.

That's three full orders of magnitude in 20 years, so yes, it seems to me that 2TB SD size cards are likely to be less than 10 years away, since they are a mere 2 orders of magnitude above what is currently available.

Hi guys!

With respect to the flashgun, yes of course i'll play around with it beforehand, but one that works with the metering system of my K20D will at least mean that I can to an extent 'set it and forget it'.
make sure you give yourself plenty of time for this. I got my Sigma flashgun for a similar project and its calibration was initially off, causing it to underexpose every shot. I didn't have time to take it back before the big day and spent half the night fiddling with exposure compensation. It turned out ok but if I'd just given myself a bit more time to get it sorted it would have been a lot simpler.

I am not a people photographer, actually I hate photographing people. I have done one wedding which I did as a weddding gift for a relative who couldn't afford a "proper" photographer, and I was still better than that by a country mile.

I don't know how that person could bring themselves to charge for the "work".
