Just a gentle wry comment about having too much gear and risk stifling creativity. Today I went out with one camera which I am not allowed to name which has a fixed focal length of 23mm on APS and the K5 plus 4 lenses in the bag. How many lenses did I use on the K5? One - the 70 Ltd. I took more with the un-named camera than the K5 because it's so simple to use and always delivers. Having two cameras was a dratted nuisance really but just now and then I needed the 70.

We are all different but I recommend taking just two lenses like the 21 Ltd and the 70 Ltd and one body it's liberating. And now I'll quite rightly be told to shut up and p*ss off. I'm used to it.

Lock up all but two and take some photographs?

Tim

I had the Sigma 30/1.4 and Tamron 17-50. When one was sharp the other was not. It was on a K20D as I recall. It's probably not relevant but who knows? Actually I'm not sure how I adjusted so that one was OK and other now but in the end that added to a reason to part with the Sigma 30/1.4

well you where robben
It seems to me club photography is a game with quite special characteristics and if you want to win then try and work out what's needed. But I agree with the other guy 'stuff the judges enter what pleases you' and hope you get a good response if not from the judge then other members. If those photos didn't do well then the other shots must have either played the judging system or be very good indeed.

Photography is often a game of odds - the more photos you take; the better your chances are of getting a good photograph.
I'm not sure that's true. Often I find the instinctive reaction gives best results or that really prolonged analysis does but just blazing away creates confusion. Possibly I have misunderstood your advice and you're suggesting that getting into the habit of taking photograph gets your head in the right place and I do think that's good advice.

I used Alan and the service was excellent being prompt, lots of communication and bang on his estimate. And he fixed it too. I can recommend Alan.

10 quid to save 20 if their estimate is correct must be good I suppose.

No motors here prime only and a lovely one too. I did wonder if it was a PCB that was failing as now I think harder it wasn't always at f22 but a good flicking seems to ease the problem.
