Hardly the same as Ratners faux pas is it? He was chief executive of the company whose products he was deriding, whereas this is something from the other forum and Pentax Ricoh are not responsible surely?

I agree with all that has been said re the DA 55-300. My first trip to Cosford and RIAT a couple of years ago saw me using the Sigma 75-300. The 300mm focal length is generally quite long enough for aircraft shots albeit a little soft. Last year I went to RIAT with the Sigma 150-500mm and to be honest found it somewhat heavy. The results I had from it were good but it is not the easiest of lenses to use due to its weight and size.

This year I wil be at RIAT with the DA 55-300 which I am sure will fill the bill perfectly as it is much sharper that the Sigma 80-300, and feather-light compared with the 150-500.

First I've seen of it Vic. I think one of these would suit me very well, but I can't seem to find one for Pentax in the UK. Have you got a supplier in mind?

I've never owned a Hadley, or anything in Fibrenyte for that matter, but I do have a 335 in canvas and have to say it's never given me any trouble in the rain. Thay said, I do tend to seek shelter if it's raining! Cosmetically I do think the canvas is more attractive, especially when it's been used somewhat, and has faded.

They had my 16-45mm for a couple of months 2 years ago after I carelessly dropped it. I was warned at the time that spares were sometimes a while in being delivered. This was before the flooding so who knows what the situation is now.

I must say however, the repair was superb, and the zoom action was better than when new so imho, well worth the wait.
