Well what can you expect when the shop staff have no knowledge of cameras. Went into Dixons yesterday to have a play wih a GX20. The sales guy wanted to know why i was thinking of switching brands from Pentax to Samsung. He didnt realise they were in fact similar cameras and could share lenses...

The assistant still didnt believe me until I asked him to pass me a K-m and I switched the lenses over.

I made a few comments about the Canikkons being "toy" cameras and that they should stock some more proper cameras like the K20D

I'm starting to be persuaded now too...

I fancy a wide angle lens and was going to buy the DA16-45 but thought it may not be wide enough.

If i go for a wide angle lens i was looking at the DA12-24 or the Sigma 10-20. Although if i go for the Pentax it will have to be soon to get the cash back.

I would recomend upgrading lenses before body...
That was my initial thought. Now what lens....
The DA16-45 seems a bargain at the moment and I havent seen a bad word written about it and it covers the ranges I'll use the most.

Unfortunately mine is a plain 100D - No SDM lenses for me.

I am still thinking a new GX10 at £250 is a steal...

If I were in your shoes, I'd rather have a K10D/GX10 and a new lens than a K20D/GX20 on its own.
I can see the appeal there, especially with the current silly prices available on the GX10. But I'll always be wondering if i should have bought a K20D

Is the K20D really that much better than the K10D??

The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of an upgrade soon (before the prices go up ).

I can get hold of a GX10 for about £250, which would leave some cash for a lens or two. But i think i may be wondering "what if" and wishing i'd got a K20D instead .

Decisions, decisions.....

The problem I have is getting the AFC to lock.

Are SDM lenses really that much quicker? A lot of reviews tend to say its just quieter.

Although it doesnt matter to me as my camera cant take these lenses.

It's not one of the camera's best features. The lens will track from time to time as the subject moves out of focus, but not truly constantly...
I couldnt have put it any better myself.

Its coming to a point where the ability (or lack of) of the AF module to track things is peeing me off.

I want to upgrade my camera but I dont think the K20D is good enough in this respect, nor do i see things improving in future .

In my (limited) expirience you would be better of using the Canon.

Whenever I try to take a photo of anything moving - even slowly - with my K100D or a friends K10D all that happens is that you hear veeet, veeet, veeet as the lens tries to focus followed by cursing as you have missed the shot, again.

If I have to shoot anything even slightly moving I manual focus.

I suppose we should be grateful that DSG stores are stocking Pentax and Samsung DSLR's.

I was shocked when I was at my local currys on Monday and found the K-m, K200D and GX-20 on display. Shame the prices were not too good but the instore prices were competitvie with the Canikon stuff they were selling.
