All your old lensed will work on it. Solid build quality and outstanding high ISO performance.

Another vote for the Sigma SuperwideII. I also have the Pentax M 28 f3.5 which is very good too. Should be able to get either on ebay for around £50 ...or less if you're lucky.

Get the Pentax. I started with the Tammy, but the purple fringing in high contrast areas drove me to distraction. Like DCWeather says the DAL version is optically the same for practically the same money. The image quality is outstanding for the price.
Go the the Pentax Gallery and compare the DA55-300ED images with the £1000 DA*60-250. It makes it hard to justify the extra £600+ for most users.

Its almost certainly to do with lens and camera tolerances. QC allows a small range of error around the "ideal".
Say you allow a plus or minus 2% error in focus to achieve acceptable results. If your copy of a lens is at the -2% end of the range and your camera is at the +2% end of the scale then you now have a 4% error.
If the errors on the camera and lens are both at the same point of tolerence then you get a "perfect" result. Both don't have to be at the perfect 0% error point . If they are both at -2% that is also a "perfect" result.
So it is likely the camera to lens match is better on that particular lens and that particular K5.

I had just been wondering what had happened to you as I hadn't seen anything from you for a while and wham. Back with a flourish.

How do you avoid flare when you stack square filters? Do you tape over the top or use a hood/shade of some sort? Inspired by your pictures I've just starting using some ND grads and have had a few flare issues. A 10 stop is next on the list but I've a very long way to go before I get anything remotely like one of your shots.

The 55-300 is by far the better option. The 50-200 was average. I traded up for the 55-300 and it performs well beyond it's price point suggests.
