I think for what it's worth, Is this site really really needs to lighten up a bit, to try and attract the new and younger users and not having different rules shouted at them. It does seem rather stuffy and a bit elitist.

What this site needs dare I say it, is a general brand section, and then it's upto our selfs if we visit or comment in it, know one will force anyone to visit it, but it's there if you need it.

Like it's been said before, a few new forums have popped up since the goings on in the last few months and the activity on here has nose dived to the extreme, there can only be one loser and that will be in the end, Us, the Pentax user.

So why do we have ads for non Pentax gear?
Oh yes it probably brings in revenue!

Google puts ads in that it thinks appropriate to you.
I don't see ads.

There are so many forums out there for photography. If you don't like the rules here there is nothing stopping you going elsewhere. Pentax users get swallowed up and generally either ignored or worse mocked on other forums.

Pentax cameras can't take Sony or Canon or Nikon lenses, so it is hardly a fair comparison imho. The fact that so many users of other brands happily use Pentax lenses with adapters says a lot about the quality, and price, or Pentax lenses.

Now let's let this thread rest please.
So I am back to my point, is this a Pentax Camera forum or a Pentax forum? As I said I use Pentax lenses on a Sony body.

I own a Sony A7 and I also own an adaptor which allows me to use Pentax lenses on it, and it's superb as I have the best of both worlds, But can I show the photos on here? No as I have already been told.

So what I am doing is using Pentax lenses on a third party body, Now if a can't show these photos as I am using a Sony camera I.e. A third party body, how on earth can you have it the other way round?

There must be a time when common sense kicks in...

Oh one last thing, BW stated it was a mistake and just a habit he has got into, so maybe a PM by the OP or to a mod so that they could PM BW,

This was just spoiling for a fight that was not needed and just plain daft...

PLEASE - do not let this blow up into another fiasco - let common sense prevail!

There are too many ex members I miss already!!!!!

I agree, but in all fairness every other Pentax forum I have visited allows other brands, whether it be chatter or images, maybe now in 2014 it maybe worth this site moving with the times to assure its future for many years to come.

But then again you asked for our ideas for this site and that you stated things are going to be improved for the better, this was months ago and still nothing?

That one doesn't appeal to me at all for general use, but it could be that it's just the thing to use underwater.
I would imagine it's aimed at the GoPro crowd and suchlike who are in a slightly different age group to the majority of Pentax/Ricoh users.
Nope I think it's superb, and cannot wait to get my hands on one, the only downside is the 10m depth combined with the small sensor size, but once you get to that depth the light isn't brilliant so would be fairly useless anyway without a separate external light source.

I currently own two of these and have done for the last few months, and they are superb, never let me down yet.

Yes your right John, So what I should of also added is that the Pentax does work a lot lot better in water then it does out.
So if you don't plan on using in underwater, then I would defiantly go for either the Panasonic or Nike.

If I can be honest, and if you have a search of this forum on this subject, non of these cameras are upto the job at all, You need to be looking at the offerings from Panasonic and Canon, this time brand loyalty can't count.

I have been a member and currently members of scuba diving clubs in the states and Europe, I am also a PADI divemaster, over the years we have been approached by different publications to test these type of cameras, and each time the Pentax comes last, currently our club favorite is the Panasonic FT-5 and the Nikon 1 AW1.

I am aware that this site does not like the mention of other brands, but in thus case it just would not be fair to let you spend a great deal of money on a item that's just not upto the job.
