I stripped out another old TC, a Soligor 2x which I had acquired a long time ago, of no use so it's now a 26mm Extension Tube, my previous Vivitar 3x is a 50mm tube.

Nice shots. It's lovely and cooler in the woods, about the only safe place in this heat.

Fascinating, absolutely fascinating.
Thanks.
I have tried again with the "tube" using a 135mm f3.5 SMC M lens, whacked the f stop to f32 and 1/500th sec, not as sharp, handheld again. I don't know what the DFA 100 Macro f2.8 WR defaults to with regard no aperture control? will have to check laters.

I had one on the shelf doing nothing so easily removed the lens/inner tube assembly using a lens ring removal tool, leaving an extension tube! A bit of experimenting using it on the DFA 100 macro, I know I lose the aperture control so the depth of field is even worse for macro, but as an experiment for now.
The OOF is really failing with the tube on but you are getting very close and leaves plenty of room for cropping if required. I will try a lens with a focus ring next and see if it's any better.
All hand held.

3. First without the tube at max lens extension, i.e. closest. (all Hand Held).

4. With the 'tube' on. I'm at an angle to the flower so the OOF is showing more at the rear of the center.

Thanks for the comments peeps again.
On the KP I checked my settings; WB = Daylight and Custom Image = Natural.
I changed the profile output on RT to the only one listed that I assume is the sRGB only = "No ICM; sRGB" from "RTv4_sRGB" which is the default on my Beta copy of RT (unless I changed it ages ago following advice from Andy Astbury).
I then looked at the outputs but couldn't see much difference at all. I can't really post them here as the one posted was also tweaked afterwards with GIMP which I use to boost contrast typically, and worse I think I deleted some copies.
Many thanks for the help here, I do tend to rush out the pics to the forum and should spend more time PP'ing the shots. In RawTherapee I also tend to use mainly exposure/curves/LAB adjustments using CC to boost 'saturation effect'. Then inevitably I 'forget' White Balance LOL. Still learning RT and the Local Adjustments available on this Beta version is great, also Spot Removal.
Oh after a search I found so much info on RTv4_sRGB etc, amazing.

Cheers.

Down at Mountbatten Beach, Plymouth, Devon at low tide. Even with the slight sea breeze it was hot.
