I was out on Sunday walking along a river bank and came across this plant with what looks like very poisionous berries, its seemed to be taking over another plant.
Does anyone recognise them ? Daniel will probably know?

Very nice, I love the first one and Dead Mans Beach best, I am getting very tempted with the 10-17mm.
Prieni, did you have to correct the horizon from barrel distortion or is that how it came out because the horizon is near centre?

When in Elements 5 or CS2, does anyone know if it is possible to copy and paste the metadata info displayed by an image, rather than having to copy it out manually?

cheers, Lilly

I hate to sound a negative note, but I don't find this as pleasing as some of your other photographs, Lilly.

It may be my monitor, but the darker area at top left is virtually devoid of detail, and very dark, which unbalances the image overall. I've been suspecting for a while that those doing their editing with newer, brighter LCD displays, end up with an image that is simply too dark for my ageing but still sharp CRT. So I suspect a new screen is in order in the near future.

Like John, I also like the wide angle effect in the rocks at the bottom and right of the frame, but I find the way they're cut off at the frame's edge somewhat jarring.

I do like the light and the colours though. The light on the wet sand is just lovely, and I like the bronze tinge it lends to the foreground overall. The subtlety of the colours almost gives it a hand-tinted black and white look which I find very appealing.

I noticed the curved and slanting horizon too, but it's easily fixed, and therefore a relatively minor point. I don't, however, like the bright halo around the background rock edge where the L-shape meets the sky. Something's been overdone there, I think.

Was there a shower, out to sea at the left hand side of the visible horizon? If not, it seems a little unnatural to me.

And sadly, although I totally understand why you've done it, I find the copyright notice very distracting too.

Sorry to be a bit critical, but I normally like your photographs so much that I felt it would be wrong to remain silent.
Thats what I asked for Chris - opinions, how could I get a balanced view of my work if its all one sided, don't apologise, it's your opinion.
The copyright is merely there because I cd do it! I have just learnt how to and was playing, that's all - I won't be making a habit of it

Lovely shot, Lilly.

Did you use a tripod or was it handheld? If the former then I need to make more effort to use mine. If the latter, I need to work out why my shots are never as sharp.

Chris
Thanks Chris, with my best buddy Benbo Trekker , it is worth making the effort to cart it around for landscapes, I find it also slows me down in taking more time in framing the shot.

cheers, Lilly

Is that a dust spot on your sensor or a bird above the horizon? Apart from that all I can do is complain about the unfairness of you living in such a beautiful place!

well 'spotted' correct will do that as well, not brave enough to do the sensor cleaning bit yet

A very nice image - I particularly like the wide angle effect on the foreground.

The slightly curving horizon line is a shame, and maybe you could straighten it using Edit>Transform>Distort in CS2. Before you can do this you will need to convert the background layer to an unlocked Layer One (or whatever else you want to call it). Alternatively you can duplicate the layer and work on the duplicate.

I wondered about cropping just below the horizon line, and this I think also works, but of course that then changes your composition.

You are producing some terrific images Lilly!
thanks John, yes I will have a go at transform and see what happens, thanks again
