Well, I was communicating with Dirk the early part of this year and the following is an excerpt from one of his emails, he was planning his retirement as a pilot, so I presume he is out in the mountains gathering his words and images for his book:

quote" Dear Lilly,

Very happy with hear from you.

I feel pleased you liked my CD work. I say this because I feel a great esteem in your photography and art appreciation. Your acceptation of my work is an honor.

Thanks Lilly for so kind and stimulating words.

And I will tell you a little part of the other story; my Pentax story.

At this year (October) I must do my retirement because of my age, my years of service and all other required for this… So with tears in my eyes I must assume my new condition.

In the past June (2007) knowing the above mentioned, I bought my first SLRC for specially redo the CD work, but this time with more professional images. The circumstances did I decided than the best SLRC was the Pentax.

And here am I, with the camera hanging from my neck ant taking pictures of La Alta Montaña all than I can. Just remains 9 months for end taking the aerial photos (comes with my retirement). Then surely I will do a couple (or a lot) of mountain strips (by horse or walking perhaps) and take all this images I couldn’t do from the air.

This part will be the most pleasant, the most emotional and the most adventurous of the project. I must visit all my friends at his own homes, and you can be secured they are many people, many houses to visit, many friends to embrace… Pregnant mothers I carried with the plane to hospital, today his sons and daughters have more than 25 years. All a life for revive!

I can say, I’am very happy with my Pentax decision, first at all because is an incredible and powerful camera, and second, but very most important than the camera´s attributes, is that I could discover in the Pentax forum many wonderful peoples, peoples with a deep knowledge in photography with a great and kind volition for help and teach, but over all the things, peoples who made me feel at home. And made me feel at home, with the same feelings I remember from my childhood when I lived in my native country (Belgium, 60 years ago); questions of culture I suppose.
" end quote

I do have an email address for him but not sure how up to date it is, he was having problems with his internet connection at home.

If you would like to PM me I will send it.

Don't turn down one of the older M-series macros, which were excellent and may be easier to find - not to mention cheaper. Manual focus and exposure is not a big problem when doing macro.

I am getting the impression from all your comments
(please correct me if I am wrong)
that my existing 135mm prime will do just as well for macro work,
cons only being a dedicated macro lens would be:
a little sharper and flatter DOF.

If that is all I am going to gain for shelling out 3-400 quid I think I will purchase the fast wide lens I have considered for some time.

From the looks of it, the image has been unsaturated, apart from the blues/greens which have been altered to a warm hue, the branches therefore, have been left with a mix and match of grey and brown - thus producing an odd effect (one I like) that could be mistaken for HDR I guess..

Great image all the same, I like the processing, very powerful.
Thanks Rob, you are spot on with your detective work, well done!

These are the only 2 I have and were taken 2 years ago with a Canon Compact so just record shots before I got a DSLR! Gives you an idea though, still a pretty coastline.
Yes, Roskillys is great ice cream!

Hope this gives you an idea, taken looking back towards Coverack.
