I have been experimenting also, trying to replicate the 84 year old Saul Leiter's past work. He used out of date film and embraced the irregular color processing of the 40s & 50's. It's tricky but I do love the faded colours, I think it adds a quality and atmosphere that is subtle but effective.
My have a go attempt of a pic I took down St Ives :

I've just started looking at Lightroom for its non-RAW features but played with the Adobe RAW controls for some time. As much as I would like to use a single product, I feel no draw to stop using SilkyPix.
I'm just hoping I can find a way to make the two work well together.

Are you doing B&W at all? I don't find SilkyPix to be good in that area at all -- but then I am horrible at B&W to begin with. :-0 Just interested if you found a method that works or still have to bring into Photoshop.
No, Mono does not work well for me in SP, I still import into CS3 for my tittivating and mono conversions, toning, Actions etc. Maybe one day SP will have all those things too.
There are some useful "tastes" for B&W (and colour) created by John Nevill which can be found on his website which conatins some useful additions and an e-book on SP:

You can create your own as well.

I would also recommend visiting the Silkypix forum: http://www.shortcutinc.com/forums/index.php
Thanks for that Richard, very useful links, didnt even know SP had a Forum!

I AM liking SP very very much, have just spent another 3 hours on it today and the results I think are superior to Adobe RAW, never thought I would be saying this but I supoose I have outgrown Adobe RAW.
I feel much more in control with SP and it is far more refined in its adjustments.

I love the way it previews as you slide down the choices of Contrast; tone; WB etc etc.

I have seen the light and am a convert now! Lilly

Anyone have an idea how long on average it takes to come through once you apply?
I applied for mine on 20 Nov and have had no acknowledgement from them yet?

One thing I have noticed is though, SP is making another folder in my image dirs. 'SilkpixDS' containing .spi files, can I delete these after I make my tiff or jpg file?

I just thought I would say I have joined the Silkpix Fan Club!

It looks very scary at first, but with Matts easy to follow tips and a calm & creative frame of mind the results are stunning so far.... At first there is almost too much for one to fiddle with, but I think I am getting the hang of it.
The only thing I dont like about it is when opening a new DNG file and you have that awful small tacky window and icons to view them from as compared to cool Adobe Bridge. But I think the pros outweigh the cons, but then I am only on it for a day so far
