Hi Viewfinder,

Likewise, there really SHOULD be a cable release socket on any half serious camera worthy of the description but then again there is an expensive remote to buy as an accessory
As george says (and I never had an AF SLR body until the DL, just the ME) it does need the two stage release; one for AF one for shutter. Whether there is/was a true cable release for AF film bodies I don't know, but I suspect that it still needed a two stage release.

The wired releases can be bought for change out of a tenner.. I have a third party one myself, and I think the remotes are coming close to that now, what with chinese ingenuity.

That's a cracker Chris,

it could do with just a touch of sharpening to separate the outlines of the petals, but nothing too obvious. Well composed, and the black background works great. Perhaps just saturate the yellow slightly, to show off the stamens, and highlight the stalk a touch. With the main emphasis being the brilliant white of the petals, you've got the exposure just right.. it's white but not blown out.. which IMHO is good.

HTH

Hi all,

this isn't spam.. I'm not selling one.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cassette-Tape-To-3-5-Adaptor-CD-MP3-Adaptor_W0QQitemZ30006...

I picked up one of these (same thing, different brand) from the local Tesco superstore for £6.50 yesterday.. you can get them for less than a fiver inc. P&P from ebay if you search around.

It works exactly as it's meant to. I tried it it the van yesterday, and although the sound system is hardly refined it was fine. I then plugged it into the car's cassette player and it was superb (Ford very nicely fitted loads of speakers in the car). Anyone considering shelling out on a CD player for their car.. save your money. Buy one of these and an mp3 player/iPod; load up with your favourite tracks and away you go.

Cheers

Try the back pages of AP or PP for repairers' ads., and if you see nothing, send it to Pentax.
Or hang about for John Reilly, who's from Manchester. He may be able to recommend one..

..tirades about how mankind is responsible for climate change are statements like.... it's the hottest day recorded since 1930 or 1885....or this bit of land hasn't been flooded since before the great war.....etc.......Duh!! Well it's happened before, does that not say something?

Mankind destroying earth’s habitat's is a very different story though.
Agreed. The romans grew mediterranean varieties of grape when they were here.. IIRC, that was one of the reasons for coming.. certainly in England there wasn't really a great deal of complaint about them being here.

Hi aj,

Quote:

pete, don't worry about spelling, the message is the important thing. If people understand you, then you've got your point across, spelling is secondary.

of course, that doesn't mean we should not try to correct, but as you state, sometimes pressure of time means we don't notice mistakes creeping in.

I've worked a lot with deafness/mental illness and it is the message that is important, the method used is whatever suits at the time.
There is however one exception, of course taking into account people's level of English, problems with dyslexia etc.. and that is that there is never, ever, ever, ever ever, ever, ever, ever, any excuse for using txt spk on a forum.

I count this equally when sending/receiving text messages as well.

Hi Don,

something I was thinking of, for a remote camera (I don't think I thought of it myself, but I can't remember) was to use the guts from an electric mirror from a car, with an extended cable to the joystick, as a tripod head. That way you'll a have full (if slightly limited in movement) three way head, remotely operated..

..and if you leave the heater connected to the main battery, you can keep the camera warm if it snows.

Definitely agree, I have the 200AW. The AW stands for all weather, as they have a little waterproof cover that pops out of a pocket underneath. I was caught in a torrential rainstorm, and it didn't let a drop in.

An, as mentioned previously, it'll fit a body and at least 4 lenses.. plus pockets for your bits and pieces.

Fraid not Liam - if you buy direct from Digital Rev from their site then the postage and import duty is all included in the final price - £96 is all you pay
Hi Dexter,

from what I can see, it is included in the final price but it still needs to be added in the first place...

Quote:
Prices shown are EXCLUSIVE of import tax/duty unless you are logged in. Import tax/duty will be added to the price according to the shipping address provided when you sign up.

When ordering goods from DigitalRev Limited, overseas deliveries may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the package reaches the specified destination. Any additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you, unless otherwise stated in the order confirmation.

As importing products from overseas can be a hassle for most of our international customers, we choose to handle this process on your behalf by adding the relevant costs to your order total.
And then the postage on top.. from what I've seen on their site anyway.
