The only Sigma lens I have I use rarely. It happens with my Pentax 18-250 lens.
Any ideas??
cheers. John

My K5 has occasionally stopped working and the LCD screen shows "F - - -"

This happened sometimes with my K7.

After some switching on/off - zooming - changing ISO it disappears and the camera works OK. Frustrating if you want to use the camera quickly.

Does anyone know what the error message means and is there anything I can do about it. Whether the battery is fully charged or not does not seem to matter.

Cheers....John

I was in Rannoch Moor a couple of Februaries ago and did a couple of dawn shoots - the temperature was -10c and didn't seem to trouble my K7. I did keep my battery (and the spare) in my trouser pocket until I needed it.

Used a tripod and Cokin ND grad filter. When I looked through the viewfinder my breath was freezing on the metal tripod and on the edge of the filter!!

Hi Peter

Not a silly point when you don't know how - I've asked a few 'silly' points on here!

Go to Menu 3 and select 'Raw File Format' and from there select either PEF or DNG. Don't forget to press OK.

Then go to Menu 1 and select 'Format'. Ignore JPEG and select RAW for RAW only or RAW+ if you want both RAW and JPEG. Again press OK.

This is what I have done and RAW is on permanently and is not affected by switching the camera on or off.

Hope that helps

Cheers....John

PS. Not sure if this works on Green or P settings - I tend to use AV.

You didn't get what you were looking for but your patience paid off - great photo. I'm in a ground floor flat - would love to be higher up - but I did catch some shots of a Green Woodpecker today on the front lawns - presumably eating ants!

Cheers

[quote:3496ace15f="ChrisA]I'm also not entirely convinced that the 'slide out, click back' style of SD card cover is an improvement over the K10/20 rotating lock.

I can't help feeling that it'll wear quite quickly, and then become somewhat insecure.[/quote]It's the same type on the K7 which I've had for some time - no sign of wear.

When I never fall for such a computer scam like this why do they keep calling me???

I'm getting used to my K5 too. Hope I'm not pushing my luck but all seems OK - and I love it. Especially being able to use higher ISOs with no discernible loss of quality - at least to me and up to A4 size.

Cheers...John

I agree for 'normal' sales calls and I am polite to these callers. But the one I am talking about is a scam and to the uninitiated they get them to go to their computer, show them the Event Monitor and there will always be some red error entries - on everyone's computer. These can be ignored unless you do have a genuine problem. Once your hooked/frightened they get you to allow remote access and then the world is their oyster. Or they sell you an alleged virus killer via your credit card!!

So...I am quite happy to lead scammers up the garden path! A few weeks ago I got annoyed with one and used a few choice words and she said she would now get into my computer, steal my bank details and raid my account!! Nice.

And as for TPS I have this but I think it only works for UK callers - not from India, Nigeria or other such places. So...beware!!

Cheers....rant over....John
