Silly point maybe, but can I keep my K5 set on "raw" after turning it off? It seems to revert to jpeg each time. Thanks.

I think if you shoot in green mode, the camera defaults to jpeg, worth a look in the handbook or just try it.

Lookup USER mode in the manual, it will let you use the camera in any mode you want with custom settings.

There is an option memory somewhere, it's not in the custom menu at least.

Hi Peter

Not a silly point when you don't know how - I've asked a few 'silly' points on here!

Go to Menu 3 and select 'Raw File Format' and from there select either PEF or DNG. Don't forget to press OK.

Then go to Menu 1 and select 'Format'. Ignore JPEG and select RAW for RAW only or RAW+ if you want both RAW and JPEG. Again press OK.

This is what I have done and RAW is on permanently and is not affected by switching the camera on or off.

Hope that helps

Cheers....John

PS. Not sure if this works on Green or P settings - I tend to use AV.
On a dark desert highway, cool Pentax K5 in my hand.

Hi again everyone! Thanks for all the suggestions-you prompted me to return to the manual, and before I had seen Kentys post.I found there is a 'save all settings' menu item in no.5-it needed more 'o k' pushes than I had first used, but it works. I will keep Kentys way for another time.
Just to say the forum confirmed my likely choice of camera, from reading impressions of contributors-then an inheritance became available, and the Kr became a K5.Am I glad! Low light performance is phenomenal, and the anti-shake. (I like candids). What a great site-I have learned so much!
Peter.
