Pentax User:
You can get some of it here too...

USA Store of course has more!

They even have the Lens foot for the DA* 300mm, that I can't get over here!
But I can't see those specific items, SRS are the ones to ask, other than RICOH Imaging UK

You are of course welcome to your opinion Smeggy and I for one respect that, though I may not always sound like it, One mans Silk Purse is another mans sows ear and all that...

Smeggy, From the American Forum again, do you have any idea what they are banging on about here?

"DXOMark signifies noise "smoothing" with hollow dots on the SNR graph. They are clearly visible on all the K-5 family bodies, at ISO's above 1600. There are no hollow dots on the K-3 SNR graph, which indicates that DXO did not find non-defeatable raw NR in the K-3 files.

The SNR graphs for the K-5 family and K-3 are virtually on top of one another until ISO 1600, where they diverge by 1/2 stop. They equalize again at ISO 12800. Clearly if the K-5 raw noise were not manipulated, 16 and 24MP SNR's would be identical."

Manipulated? Just our over the pond cousins seeing snakes hiding behind every blade of grass? Hollow dots? There is a lumbering Lancaster Bomber slowly droning over my head!

I think it was Ed from Photouniverse that reckoned you need to set the flash to Auto with the K5 and leave it to get on with it, it gives far better results than P-TTL, Could be making it up though! I'm not a flash user but I picked up an old Vivitar 283 or 285, haven't really looked to be honest but a big Vivitar anyway slipped it on the hotshoe and hey presto beautiful flash exposures with the K3, it's just like Nikon CLS, and there is nothing out there better than that...

It is a great lens the 8-16, anybody know when the 18-35/1.8 is coming out in Pentax mount as then my lens collection will be complete?
From the US forum regarding this Lens:

From Sigma USA.

"We are scheduled to receive our first shipment of this lens next week. We are supposed to get enough to cover all backorders so you should expect it soon!"

What about these:

- Switchable anti-moire
- USB 3 = rapid transfer of images to a PC
- Flu Card capability for tethering to a smart phone (coming soon)
- More accurate metering
- More accurate colour rendition and white balance
- Less tendency to blow highlights

And finally, I would dispute that the K-3 is worse at higher ISO's. I've had mine for two months now and had the opportunity to use it side by side with my K-5IIs during this time and I think it is as good as the IIs at higher ISO's. If there is any difference, it is not worth worrying about.

Ditto!

What noise there is, is finer cleans up better and looks better in prints, the 86000 zone colour meter gives far more accurate exposure and so the tendency to get into noise territory in post processing is moot really, (RE: It's your own fault!). I've used my K3 at higher ISO's than I ever used my K5's and the results are better, turn all the auto's off and get out of bright! (Not the problem here, I know but just to show what happens in bright!).

Or just shoot RAW. My point being, they test the bloody things out of the box and Camera manufacturers own settings are appalling! K3 manual is no help to anyone though!
Scroll down this page, these look pretty good to me:
http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/172-pentax-k-3/248079-k3-vs-k5-high-iso-noise...
K5 can look better out of the box because it shoots at ISO 80, also the K5's impressive DR Figures are skewed to this ISO as well, the only thing missing from the K3...
All of this don't stop me wanting a IIs to go with my K3 though!
I know all this for certain and I've never even seen either Camera!

Nowt wrong with that un Nigel!

Shoot/stitch vertically, if you can, ICE is good but it needs plenty of details to maintain accurate stitches as opposed to some of the ludicrously expensive ware out there! (Mind you not all that is good either!). As I said shooting vertical gives the Software more to go on, if your shooting handheld leave a bit bigger overlap to compensate for movement and that's about it really...

You tell me what you keep in yours and I'll share!

On a better note, my other half sent up her usual rocket to try to wake up Stagecoaches timetable planners (If indeed they have any!) and recieved this response:

Thank you for your email.

I apologise for the inconvenience this caused you, I have since looked into the timetable agree these times are not practical.

For the time being I will inform all our drivers who are operating the 505 service to wait for 3-5 minutes to try to ensure that these buses connect.

I'm sure you can appreciate that this is not a guaranteed connection but I will try to ensure the service is operated in a more efficient manner.

Going forward I will contact our Commercial department and inform them of this problem, so hopefully in the future these important tourist buses are more reliable and passengers aren't missing connections and having to wait 1 hour for the next bus.

Once again I would like to apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and hope to rectify this problem as soon as possible.

Your Sincerely

Sean O'Callaghan
Relief Inspector
Kendal Depot
Stagecoach

Thats a first!
She may not be a peoples champion (Yet!) but she's certainly mine. (Insert pride in other halfs achievements smiley)
