That offer on the silver seems to have disappeared. Black one now on offer at £1,386.27.

Note that the above is for the old SDM version, which I wouldn't touch even at half again that price. They do have some offers on other Pentax lenses though.

While I have too many lenses and I like to buy and use "new" ones, I don't re-buy lenses after regretting selling them, especially brand new ones. When I buy a brand new lens it's because I've fully done my research and decided that's definitely the one for me.

The only lens I've re-bought several times is variations on the 50/1.4 Takumar, the most recent one coming from John and it's the third copy I've owned, although the second one came as part of a package and I bought it to re-sell for a profit. That third copy is probably going to go soon too in order to free up funds.

Here in Spain registering Panasonic products adds an extra year of guarantee (three in total). I've registered my Sigma lenses too and I think that does something similar.

I've no idea about Pentax these days but I think they still give a longer guarantee if you buy from an approved "Pro" centre.

My offer still stands for the camera.

Last week we had a couple of foggy mornings and one of them I grabbed the K-3 and K series 28mm f/2 to take some shots as I cross the park on my way to the metro station. The fog had left a nice dew over all the greenery. I hadn't used the K-3 with a manual lens for ages and I enjoyed it a lot and found it a good experience to keep my manual focus on a DSLR skills from going too rusty.

I could be interested in the camera as the only Super A I've bought in the past turned out to be a dud. I don't think there'd be any need to run a film through it to be reasonably certain that it works, I would add new light seals and probably mirror bumper anyway for a camera of that age. Some dry-firing with a battery in it to make sure it meters OK, shutter fires, wind-on mechanism etc all works, if you'd be willing to do that.

I don't know what the going rate is for a Super A though.

The lenses are all well thought-of, especially the 35-105mm I think, which is known as a "stack of primes"

This must be the M series lens, right?

To my knowledge it's well-regarded for a zoom of the era but I haven't used one or even seen any for sale. It's a lens I wouldn't mind trying out and £70 sounds like a good deal if it's working well but maybe yours has some problems, possibly fungus. If you post some images of what you see inside then maybe the folks can give you an idea of what you're looking at.

I have found that Google works better than the forum search to find things on this forum, just specify pentaxuser in the search terms.

The hood for the 20-40mm is very shallow so it can't do much for IQ but, as always with a hood, is certainly worth having for physical protection of the front element. Microglobe have it in stock: https://www.microglobe.co.uk/pentax-mh-ra55-lens-hood-for-hd-da-20-40mm-f28-4-li...
