Hi all,
I've seen a quite a bit written about converting the DA* lenses to screwdrive lately and I wanted to offer the service to PU members. I've got a K100d and have converted a bunch of my own lenses to screwdrive in the past so would be willing to help out other members. I'm based in West Yorkshire so drop offs possible. I've seen a guy on the US forum help out loads of their users for a nominal fee + postage so it might work here too.
I've also seen other members discuss their own conversions so maybe we can build a little network of peeps that can do it. I'm wary that members may not want to send their expensive kit off just like that so it'd be nice if you could meet someone local-ish to get it done in an hour or less.
Best Regards
Haris
EDIT: Just wanted to add that the conversion would be for 16-50 and 50-135 lenses mainly, although the 200 and 300 can also be converted. I believe the 60-250 is currently not convertable to screwdrive unless a physical modification is made.

Thanks Barrie.
You must have a better memory or be better with the forum search than me!
I'll contact Haris directly to see if he's still doing this.

I have found that Google works better than the forum search to find things on this forum, just specify pentaxuser in the search terms.

I successfully converted my 16-50, 50-135 and 300 lenses nearly 3 years ago. I have the printout of the instructions that I used. Unfortunately there is a reference in the instructions to 'drop box files' and I cannot remember what they contained or indeed even if they are necessary . The original instructions were downloaded from the Pentax Forums site and my attempts a few days ago to open the drop box link was repeatably blocked by ( I think) the Drop Box site.
You are welcome to what I have !

Don't you have to have an older body to do it? Can't remember which

You need a K5 (any version) or earlier - K20, K10, K100 etc.

Thanks to all for your contributions.
I am now in contact with HarisF1, who is going to do the conversion for me.

My much loved 50-135 has suffered SDM failure again (3rd time) and I'm loathe to pay for yet another replacement motor. I've tried to wake it up without success. My research tells me that neither of my bodies - K70 and K-S2 - are able to carry out this process, otherwise I would do it myself.
If you either remember the name of the member concerned or you are that member, can you reply to this thread or pm me please?
