This is bigger news for Pentax than it is for Canikon or Sony. They get replacements for lenses they already had (no big change), but it's extremely likely that Tamron will stop making the older lenses, so Pentax will lose them entirely.

Looks like Tamron are going the same way as Sigma - almost all their lenses will be big and expensive due to shake reduction systems and being full-frame. This makes them far less desirable for a Pentax system anyway. If only Pentax would get their act together and fix SDM then at least there would be some options.

Looks like it lacks more in contrast than in sharpness.

Looks like a job well done. 8 quid for a Dremel copy? Wish I could find one for that price.

I wouldn't be surprised if the K5 II is real, but I think after two years they need to bring out something better than a simple upgrade. I'd be surprised if there's nothing with the Sony 24MP sensor in it.

It's the same as the Samyang. I'm guessing you saw the one on Amazon Spain, which is the cheapest I've seen it anywhere.

If you look through the errors then you can see the potential. Your own errors are the best way to learn.

Debris is not the only risk to the rear element. If the saw slips, it could cause damage despite any card or plastic placed over it.

The lens has an extended flange at the back. You can see it in the third picture. I had a Vivitar with the same problem. While it mounts ok on an older film camera (pre-AF) it will damage the inside of the mount on a DSLR because the extended flange hits what are now the SDM contacts (formerly power-zoom contacts). Below is a picture of my lens with the extended portion removed.

You need to remove the black inner part of the metal mount to avoid damaging the optics, and cut the excess flange off with a hacksaw or similar. Alternatively, you can remove this part and leave it off, but it leaves the optics open to dust and the aperture lever unprotected from damage from impacts.

Good luck
