Walimex Pro 85mm f1.4
Fan of DA limited and old manual lenses
IIRC, this has happened when Vivitar branded the same lenses as other companies such as Cosina - which actually made some of the lenses for them! (old AP tests on, for example, the 19-35mm w/a tended to show the Vivitar versions were possibly a little sharper, which is why I bought the Vivitar version - and was not disappointed with it on my MZ-5N).
Or are these companies who do it?
Does samyang covert any problem with rokinon, walimex, vivitar...lens?
Or are these companies who do it?
Sorry, and I realise that English is probably not your main language, but please could you ask the question again in a slightly different way as I (and probably other people) am having difficulty in understanding it.
Thanks
John
I ask if Samyang gives technical guarante for these secondary companies.
Sorry
I ask if Samyang gives technical guarante for these secondary companies.
I doubt that to be the case - when one manufacturer makes a product for another company, it generally does (or it "should"!) do that against an agreed purchase specification.
However, it then depends on whether the purchasing company actually makes sure that the specification has been met - that is if they know how to actually do that, which many do not because they don't have the staff and facilities to do that!
Often they do get the first few samples checked, but what happens after that is anyone's guess - that is why I said that the on-going quality assurance system of control is critical in cases like these. If the purchasing company is large and has good resources, then they can probably afford to do that, but if they are small - like many companies that market but do not design and manufacture the products they sell - they may not do so!
This problem is very common in the electronics industry in which I work - and that is why products from some companies are very good to start with but then the quality (and legal compliance!) of the products can substantially deteriorate quite quickly. This is a very well-known problem with products from China and its neighbours - and why there are very many more safety recalls in Europe for products from that area (see the EU latest EU RAPEX Report link)- than from anywhere else!
It also why quite a number of UK/EU companies did outsource the manufacture of their products to Chinese manufacturers but have recently been bringing production back home because product quality/legal compliance has deteriorated a lot over time.

Actually I think that was a misprint and he was refering back to his original question about the "Walimex" lens
But, maybe, as has happened many times previously, one brand-name company exerts a little more Quality Control/Assurance than another to protect its brand image, and this generally costs more.
Are you saying there is still Quality Control somewhere.

Good question - for the reasons I stated earlier - depends mainly on the company that is in control of this.
BTW - if anyone wants to discuss this subject further, I think we should restart this part of the thread in a more general forum, so as to allow Pentaz to try to get some answers to his specific enquiry!

is it, really the same lens that Samyang 85 f1.4?
how is possible that Walimex cost 250 euros and Samyang 300 euros?
