New tamrons, but not for Pentax

Tamron have just announced replacements for their 90mm macro and 70-200 F2,8 lenses. link

While they seem to have great spec (both dust and water resistant) neither are available in Pentax mount, only Nikon, Cannon and Sony.

Which got me wondering, have Tamron:
A) Just given up on Pentax – sad as they make great lenses.
B) Pentax have done a deal with Tamron not to release K mount and like the 18-270mm we’re going to see these re badged as Pentax (DA* with the WR?) at twice the price?

Just wondering...

I posted the same thing today but it was deleted as it has nothing to do with Pentax apparently.

Nice improvements to the 90mm though, changing to internal focusing and weather resistance nice additions to a fine lens, kind of glad there is no pentax fit yet though, my tamron is only a couple months old
Pint o' rough & a game o' darts anyone

Tamron have long since stopped making lenses for Pentax. When the 18-270 came out, a couple of years ago now, they could have made a Pentax fitting, to replace the successful 18-250, but didn't.
I asked them about it and the reply was very non-committal. I think they don't see enough of a market in Pentax.
Maybe now they are collaborating again things will improve, but I doubt it.

Internal focusing shortens the focal length
as you move closer.... not ideal for a macro.

The other thread was actually more of a plug for lenses in Canon, Nikon and Sony fit that a lamenting that there are no Pentax versions, so this thread is much more on topic.

The new Pentax 18-270mm is of course based on the Tamron lens, so it's clear that business continues to be done where both parties find it agreeable.

In a similar way, business is done with Tokina and some very fine lenses have been co-produced. Tokina supplies Canon and Nikon fits, Pentax provides Pentax fit.

I would like you to quote me in my post where I plugged Canon, Nikon or Sony?

If I remember correctly I Put a link to the article and mentioned they were only available for those brands and not Pentax and also that we had not seen anything from Tamron in a few years. ...

hardly a plug is it?

Edit: and at least I spelt Canon correctly in my post

You're perfectly right to mention this, .. It's struck me too, .. that reveals once more how Pentax is considered by third part lens producers, .. CZ stopped it too a while ago

Don’t mind Mike, .. that’s typically JR, .., he acts first and he (perhaps) rationalizes after ..

Back on topic please. And again, attack an argument by all means, but not individuals.

I ordered a tamron lens from onestop digital, it was a pentax fit no problem, this was the other week from Hong Kong it came within 24 hrs, in this country you would wait two three days, i must say it takes better shots then the DA pentax lenses sorry to say
