ND10 seascape FAILS

There have been some quite astonishingly good sets on the 'Your Photos Forum' this weekend. I therefore feel the need to balance this talent with some examples of howling incompetence. These represent some of my efforts getting to grips with an ND10 filter by the sea in Sconny Botland a couple of weeks ago. Aspiring to Puma-esque standards in this regard proved over-ambitious.

Nevertheless, useful lessons were learned

#1 Never turn your back when a wave breaks, miss seeing the spray and spend the next 10 minutes taking multiple exposures of lens splash

The sun was too bright to see the review screen properly, m'lud

#2 Make sure the tripod is really secure, dumbass

#3 Make sure the most interesting bit of the composition isn't in the bloomin shade

Semi-salvageable if I were to use the wizardry of lightroom, but still a schoolboy error.

C+C NOT required in this instance, thankyou

Love it. We've all been there, in fact we all probably spend most of our time there. The important bit is to realise the mistakes, plenty don't.

I think you are far too honest! You must know that in the digital age if you throw enough s**t some of it will stick. Undoubtedly some of the finest shots on PU were made this way.

If you look through the errors then you can see the potential. Your own errors are the best way to learn.

I was playing around with ND grads next to the sea once (with an Olympus SLR) and a wave knocked the tripod over....luckily no sea-water got in the camera or lens, but it could have been a very expensive mistake.
